What's up, you guys?! It's Tuesday, and time for
another Set 11 Card of the Day! Today, we have...
Thundering Ripple, Genovious
Power: 10000
Grade 3
Clan: Aqua Force
Race: Aquaroid
[AUTO] (VC) Limit Break 4 (This ability is active if you
have four or more damage):[Counter Blast (2) & Choose a
card named "Thundering Ripple, Genovious" from your
hand, and discard it] At end of the battle that this
unit attacked a vanguard, if the number of [Rest] «Aqua
Force» in your front row is three, you may pay the cost.
If you do, [Stand] all of your «Aqua Force» rear-guards.
[CONT](VC):If you have a card named "Rising Ripple,
Pavroth" in your soul, this unit gets [Power]+1000.
...so now we look at the Ripple Ride Chain. When it
starts off, it acts like the Raptor or Arboros Dragon
Ride Chains, but as a whole, the Ride Chain functions
really similar to Coral as the Grade 1 of the Chain
gives you a second chance as if you ride a non-Ripple
unit, you can peek at 7 to go for a Superior Ride free
of cost and consequence. What about Genovious here
though? He's definitely a unique unit as he's a Ride
Chain that's also a Persona Blast, and the only other
Chain that's like that is Lox...and no one talks about
him because of how bad it is...but back to the good
Chain. Genovious, like other Gen 2 or older Ride Chains,
are at 11,000 when successfully having the Grade 2
Ripple in the Soul, and that alone makes it a bit
redeemable as most main Vanguards these days are units
with 11,000 power and can potentially overpower any unit
that is 10,000 with the support they have. As for his
Limit Break, hit or miss, after Genovious attacks,
Counterblast 2 and Persona Blast, and if you do, then
you get to Stand ALL of your rear-guards! This is
practically like Mr. Invincible's effect, but cheaper,
which consequentially makes it better in my opinion. The
fact that it can dish out an extra 2 full powered
attacks can potentially end the game in a mid/late game
scenario.
Making it a Persona Blast makes the skill a bit
tricky to pull off, but when it does, it normally makes
it a final push for the win.
Rating: 4/5
Art: 3/5 (Pretty average in my book.)
