King of Masks, Dantarian

 

Closing the week is something appropriately awesome. King of Masks, Dantarian. As a Break Ride unit, he grants 10k when you ride a new Dark Irregulars during Late Game, and then he gives up to three rear-guards Amon's skill; that is, 1000 power for each card in your soul until the end of the turn.

 

This is basically Gancelot uber souped-up. In the Dark Irregulars clan itself, 5 soul is a breeze, so you know it pretty much outpaces Gancey on several levels. Add on to the fact that at least 10 soul is definitely accomplish-able in DIs, and you have 3 rear guards each forcing an extra 10k shield on attack. And then you have the extra 10k forced through naturally Break Riding, and you set up a pretty devastating finisher.

 

The best place and certainly the most common place to find this card is in a deck focused around Master of Fifth Element. The two work like a dream team effectively setting up the board to say "two Perfect Guards or you die". It's frankly disgustingly hilarious and no matter where this guy goes, you know you have a finisher on your hands.

 

I'd rate this as nutty. Not Bad End Dragger levels, but he's definitely worth the -1 from riding again.

What's up, you guys?! So to finalize our random week, were actually taking a look at something that we haven't reviewed yet from Set 12:

King of Masks, Dantarian
Power: 11000
Grade 3
Clan: Dark Irregulars
Race: Human

...Didn't expect this one, didn't ya? Dantarian has 11,000 Power (always nice), with an effect to Soul Charge for an extra 1,000 Power when he attacks the Vanguard (nice for the clan's characteristics) and a Break Ride that seems pretty good on paper, but does become a bit lacking when it's actually used. When you Break Ride, your Vanguard gains 10,000 Power (pretty standard) and 3 of your rear-guards, essentially, get Amon's main effect of gaining power for the amount of Soul that you have. This really is good depending on how fast you can Soul Charge as many cards as you can, but if you Break Ride too soon, then your rear-guards might only get about 5,000-8,000 power, which is alright, but Gamcelot can do that a lot easier. This Break Ride is a lot easier to abuse with everyone's favorite Dark Irregular Succubus, Doreen, because the Break Ride will give her the Amon effect along with the fact that whenever you Soul Charge that turn, then Doreen can easily be at least 25,000 BY HERSELF!

Overall, this card is really about when would be the right timing to use it, but if used correctly with the right Break Ride unit (Reijy in my personal opinion), then this card can be a solid game-ender.
