What's up, Rogue Squad?! For today's Card of the Day,
we're looking at the only Grade 0 this week:
Morgenrot
Power: 5000
Grade 0

[AUTO]: Forerunner (When a unit of the same clan rides
this unit, you may call this unit to (RC))
[AUTO](RC):[Counter Blast (1)] When an attack by your
vanguard with "Blau" in its card name hits a vanguard,
you may pay the cost. If you do, look at up to three
cards from the top of your deck, search for up to one
card with "Blau" in its card name, reveal it to your
opponent, put it into your hand, and shuffle your deck.
...this is definitely an annoying card. Morgenrot is
your typical Forerunner starting Vanguard with 5,000
Power, which is pretty basic, but with an effect where
if your Blau Vanguard hits the opponent's Vanguard, then
you can Counterblast 1 to look at the top 3 cards of
your deck for a Blau card to go to your hand. On paper,
this is actually a pretty interesting effect as it gives
you an easy way to add cards to your hand. However,
unlike Silver Thorn Assistant, Ionela; where her effect
was free and only required to be boosting the hitting
attack, that Counterblast payment can surprisingly be
considered expensive especially on a starting unit like
Red Dawn here though it's still nice to have the option
to get more cards to your hand whether it's a Mars
Blaukleuger, Blau Dunkelheit, or any of the ace Blaus.
Overall, I say to only use this effect is you really
need the effect at the moment. Aside from that...well,
at least it's a 5,000 booster...

Morgenrot
Third card of the week is a card piggybacking of the new
Blau support, Morgenrot. Whenever your Blau vanguard’s
attack hits the opposing vanguard, look at the top 3
cards of your deck, add a Blau among them to your hand.
All for the mere cost of Counterblast 1.
I like this thing. It doesn’t have to boost, and doesn’t
need to enter the soul either, so you could +1
potentially (as long as a good bulk of the deck is Blaus)
unlike other starters that are +0 washes. A nice trick
to pull is when you run 4 regular Blaukluger (since you
want an 11k Stern if at all possible). You CB1 for
Morgenrot, and then unflip it with Blaukluger. A strict,
costless +1 search, which is great. In fact, if you can
get Blaukluger to attack the Vanguard every turn for 16k
at least, you can actually sit on Grade 2 and the card
advantage gained can let you keep up. You might even get
the Grade 3 you need to ride.
A note on his use. He’s still only a 5k booster, so
unless you can assure yourself that you can have an 11k
Vanguard by turn 3, I wouldn’t put Morgenrot behind the
Vanguard because 15k vs the prolific amounts of 11k
Vanguard will do you in. Because even if Stern can’t be
11k, you still want it to swing at the Vanguard for 16k+
if you want it to have any teeth.
Morgenrot’s a neat starter and Blaus as a whole are just
cool.
