What's up, you guys?! So it's about time to wrap up
this very random week with a random Grade 3:
Eternal Goddess, Iwanagahime
Power: 11000
Grade 3
Clan: Genesis
Race: Noble
[ACT](VC) Limit Break 4 (This ability is active if you
have four or more damage):[Soul Blast (6)] Retire all of
your opponent's rear-guards in the front row.
[ACT](VC):[Soul Blast (3)] This unit gets [Power]+5000
until end of turn.
[CONT](VC/RC): Lord (If you have a unit without a same
clan as this unit, this unit cannot attack)
...so this is a mouthful to say, so we're going to
call her Iwa for short. So Iwa here has a solid 11,000
Power with a very interesting Limit Break, and I say
interesting in the fact that it's cost is the most
unique I've seen on a unit as her cost isn't a
Counterblast by a Soulblast, and a cost of 6 at that!
Not most clans can gather up 6 Soul hence why only
Genesis is the only one to have such a unique cost.
Should you pull off the Limit Break cost, you get to
blast away your opponent's frontline rear-guards. This
is pretty cool seeing how you can get rid of any pesky
interceptors that would potentially save the opponent,
but the cost for this effect makes it kind of lacking as
gathering 6 Soul, even for Genesis, is pretty tricky to
do, so you're only going to be able to pull this effect
off once at very best, which leaves little to no room to
pull off her other effect, which gives her an extra
5,000 power by Soulblasting 3 cards...it's alright, but
I think that if you're going to save the Soul for
something, unless you're 100% sure you're not going to
use any excess Soul and can pull off the effect, then I
rarely see you getting a boost for this blast.
Overall, Iwa is okay, but I'd rather use Fortuna.

Eternal Goddess,
Iwanagahime
Closing off this
week...well, I couldn't think of anything really
low-Grade that I liked, so instead I picked an ace that
no-one seems to be running where I am, Eternal Goddess
Iwanagahime. for a Soulblast of 6 in Late Game, all of
the opponent's front row is retired. She also packs
another ACT skill which Soulblasts 3 to give her 5k
power.
Sounds expensive, and it
is. Good thing then that Genesis is really good at mass
Soulcharging during Early and Mid Game. So what you have
is a before-attack Dragonic Kaiser Vermillion. And it's
agreed almost everywhere that Vermillion's a good card.
A total of 9 soul, assuming the aim is to use both of
her skills, is achievable at a consistent enough rate,
so she's actually a good finisher.
But it gets better. Imagine
you Break Ride over Oracle Queen, Himiko. Now, you don't
NEED to use her second skill thanks to the 10k bonus, so
you could just spend that on drawing a new card with the
Break Ride skill for guard quality. Throw in some Soul
swarmers such as Witch of Frogs, Melissa and Witch of
Ravens, Chamomile, and you've achieved a +4 right off
the bat. That's really good for the price you paid.
Now, there is something
else I should mention. I know that technically you could
actually spring Iwanangahime twice in one game, since 12
Soul isn't that unfeasible. However, I wouldn't count on
it too much. It'll be Late Game by then, which is when
the opponent is least able to refresh their attacker
slots; they've had to throw them away guarding you. So
there's not much point nuking their bad attackers (if
they throw any down).
Iwanagahime is for both
offense and defense. So watch what you kill and what the
opponent's got, and decide whether you can kill the
opponent on the turn you use her Soul Nuke.
