As with all Clan Keyword PGs, we
gotta look at why we'd run it over the unflip PG, in
this case Grandguard:
-Grandleaf bounces himself to hand,
which means itself plus Grandvolver is a column that
can't be screwed with by Root Flare and Big Crunch.
-Grandvolver countercharges 2
on-hit, so if your opponent only has enough guard for
your Vanguard, Grandvolver unflips more than Grandguard. You're
most likely running 3-4 Grandvolver, so one is gonna hit
eventually.
-Grandleaf will be a 10k booster in
many scenarios. Rearguard columns need to put in work
too in today's meta.
-Assuming your starter, Grandhop,
doesn't get Gattling Claw'd, Grandhop gives you 1
countercharge that you'd have to wait for if you were
still using Grandguard.
All in all, the Cosmic Hero deck
can function without Grandguard now. They only need 2
counterblast per turn to get rolling.
You probably wouldn't use him in D-Robos;
you need your soul intact for Daiyusha's crit to go
online. Sin Buster needs his soul as well for his own
Metalborg units. Enigman is, well, Enigman, so you can
do whatever in that deck. And Zeal actually needs the
countercharge from Grandguard. (I know there's still
hipsters out there playing Zeal somewhere.)
Grandleaf's main home is with
Cosmic Heroes, but it is very good at what it does.
