...Really? It's Kagero week and we don't even review the
two best ones this week? What is this bullshit.
Oh well. We kick things off with a...Gear Chronicle G
Guardian? K...kay. Uh, anyway. When you defend with
Raphanna, you send one of your Grade 1+ rear-guards back
to the deck, call a Grade 0 in its place, and then
Raphanna gains 10k shield.
Well, I guess it's more shield than Uluru? Being a 25k
shield without an extra minus is pretty nice. One the
other hand, the only unit you would want to reasonably
turn into a Grade 0 is the vanguard's booster if you
introduced a Fate Rider to it on the last turn or
Upstream Dragon-ed into it. So it requires a bit of
juggling and certainly doesn't really work as a
substitute to Uluru, just as a supplement.
Only used for situations where the 5k shield is
make-or-break. Otherwise most people would rather have
the simpler Uluru.

Gears have another pretty dope G-Guard under their
sleeve. Cycle a unit back to the deck that you had to
call from hand, like a Gigi or Drain-Valve Dragon, so
you can time leap into it again to reuse its on-call
effect. You then will either call Ur-Watar, or, if
you're running two starters in your deck, call one of
those.
This
card basically replaces your Scryew in your G-Zone, if
you play Gears. It's a 1-of, unless you really think you
need 2 25k shields. Otherwise, just fall back on Uluru
cycling units back into your deck. (What is Legion?)
