Genesis Beast, Destiny Guardian
Why can't we have more Generic G Guardians for everyone?
Destiny Guardian is useless in every Link Joker deck
except Messiahs: unlock 2 to gain 10k shield.
Outside of that? You'd have to unlock 2 backrow units
that cannot boost anyway before this even becomes
remotely useful outside of Messiahs. Even then man. Even
then. I hope you have a Demon Maxwell and a Sacrifice
Messiah handy, outside of that, this isn't good.
Play at 1 because situations. No more.

[Genesis Beast, Destiny Guardian]
So, Kagero gets two G-Guards that kill units on the
opponent's turn, Megacolony gets a G-Guard that can rest
the opponent's back row on their turn, but Link Joker
couldn't get a G-Guard that locks an opponent's unit on
their turn? I can see why Bushi wouldn't want to give
that option to Links, but c'mon, they could at least
have a G-Guard that locks a backrow unit. That's tame
enough. Even Chronojet's getting a G-Guard that can
bounce a unit and make the opponent call a unit with one
grade less than it.
I'm gonna try and tone down my sympathy for Link players
a bit, but this G-Guard is not impressive. The only time
you'd ever want to unlock an opponent's rearguard is
either a) a backrow unit that has a unit in front of it
locked, or b) the opponent's Vanguard's booster, if they
have one.
I don't really see you, the Link Joker player, having
your own units to unlock during your opponent's turn due
to your units unlocking when your turn is over. If for
some reason you Omega Locked one of your own units
during your turn, then you have targets for this
G-Guard's skill. But why the hell would you do that. Ok,
so there's a few merits to Destiny Guardian. Problem is,
those merits are meh at best. You could draw either 1 or
2 cards with Alter Ego's Gen Break 2, and Destiny
Guardian is yet another headache in the mirror match.
Destiny Guardian incentivizes you to try to lock down
the opponent's backrow as well as their front to make
this G-Guard viable, even though you only have to put
the opponent in a "triangle lock" for maximum
effectiveness. They should have focused on more utility
with Destiny Guardian. At least with Maxwell, he could
provide setup for Messiah plays. Destiny Guardian just
feels cumbersome to make the best setup for it.
