[POJO] What do you like best about the PokeMon TCG?
[TG] Simple, innocent, and I get to help kids out. The other TCGs out
there are too serious. No one has fun anymore (besides, only Pokemon
had big poofballs like Chansey).
[POJO] What do you dislike about the PokeMon TCG?
[TG] The lack of strategy. I know I mentioned how much I enjoyed the
simplicity, but I think the environment is getting a bit stale.
[POJO] Do you find casual play or organized
competition to be more fun? Why?
[TG] Honestly, competition is more fun for me. I used to play magic,
and that game was set up so that there was a way to play group games.
Since Pokemon is a one vs. one game, tourneys are the best medium.
Casual play is fun,but for only two. If you've got more friends there,
its no longer a group activity.
[POJO] Where do you usually play?
[TG] Used to play at the Gathering Ground In St. Louis, I am currently
looking for DCI ranked tourneys near me...argh:) Nowadays, mostly
comic shops, or the occasional kitchen table;)
[POJO] How often do you participate in organized
tournaments?
[TG] None right now. I will be going to some in Minneapolis soon
though. I'm getting too much of a tourney itch...
[POJO] What was you most thrilling victory?
[TG] Hmm...probably when I was able to defeat the kid that defeated my
girlfriend at our first tournney. I went back and forth with him for a
while, but got the upper hand, and it was downhill from there.
[POJO] What was your most crushing defeat?
[TG] This would be the only tourney I didn't win. I was at the
Gathering Ground and a player from Illinois (who I can't remember the
name anymore ..I'm so sorry) played me 2 out of 3 games and came up on
top. He was playing Raindance real well. I won the first game, he won
the second, and on the last game, I failed to play Oak and he evolved
second turn to Blastoise (using Pokemon Breeder) and killed my only
Pokemon out on the table (Farfetch'd)...argh...
[POJO] Who is your toughest competition? Why?
[TG] At the Gen Con tourney back in Milwaukee, there was a guy ther
from Hobby USA that was super hardcore, he was REALLY good, but I was
able to deck him before he got his last prize....I was lucky.
[POJO] What is your favorite card? Why?
[TG] That's tough, probably Professor Oak. This card has single
handedly turned a game from a loosing battle to a fast victory. This
card is powerful and easy to get.
[POJO] What kind of deck to you dread having to play
against?
[TG] Raindance....oooooh, I hate Raindance. I am a VERY unlucky player
for the most part, and can NOT play Raindance. There are really lucky
players that can....and I always get a run for my money.
[POJO] What does it mean to you to be ranked as one
of the best Pokemon TCG players in the world?
[TG] Just that I have proof to back my experience as a player. I don't
want any rankings to intimidate other players, just to prove to them
I'm not a beginner.
[POJO] Do you play the Pokemon video game?
[TG] Nope, I can only spend money on ONE Pokemon past time.
[POJO] Do you watch the Pokemon Animated Series?
[TG] When I catch it...but I don't write it down on my calendar :)
[POJO] Do you have a collection of Pokemon toys?
[TG] Only one, a stuffed Pikachu, he's too cool
[POJO] Do you have a favorite card?
[TG] CHANSEY
[POJO] Favorite video game character?
[TG] Nope
[POJO] Favorite animated series character?
[TG] hmmm, probably Pikachu.
[POJO] Anything else you would like to add to this
interview?
[TG] If there is one bit of advice I can give to any Pokemon player it
would be to always remember its just Pokemon...and not to take
yourself too seriously.
