While Bloomburrow was not explicitly designed as a “top-down” set, it has some cards where the concept comes through in every line. Caretaker’s Talent is a good example of that, as multiplying and strengthening tokens is exactly what the name implies, once you pause and think about it. In some ways, the card is quite straightforward, but there are a couple of things it’s worth pointing out. The first is that while it’s clearly intended to copy a creature token, level 2 doesn’t actually restrict its targets in that way; you can copy a Clue or a land token, or a copy of a planeswalker, if somehow you have one. The second is that the first mode is ridiculous with anything that creates tokens for free – not that Bitterblossom or Garruk Wildspeaker need any help, but maybe something like Followed Footsteps does?

White’s always had a foot in token strategies, and this is certainly a potent payoff for such approaches. Getting a bonus card for token generation is always a solid rate, rewarding you for doing what you already wanted to do, but this also procs once each turn. The other two modes of Caretaker’s Talent are also quite solid: make another token (and draw a card) for 1 mana, and then turn them into a lethal fighting force afterwards. The only real knock is that this class enchantment needs to be built around, which is definitely something to be mindful of, and while it’s not cheap, it can start spinning advantage very quickly in a color not always prone to such, and I would be surprised if this doesn’t see play.
