1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters
Cannot be destroyed by battle, unless it was Special Summoned from the Extra Deck. You can only use each of the following effects of “Centur-Ion Primera Primus” once per turn. If this card is Synchro Summoned: You can add 1 “Emblema” card from your Deck or GY to your hand, then you can destroy 2 cards (1 on each field). If a face-up “Centur-Ion” card(s) you control leaves the field by an opponent’s card effect, while this card is in your GY (except during the Damage Step): You can Special Summon this card.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Centur-Ion get a new Synchro with Centur-Ion Primera Primus.

Generic Level 8 Synchro, Primera Primus comes with battle protection after it was Special Summoned from somewhere other than the Extra Deck. This makes sense in an archetype that is going to synchro climb, but battle protection always would have been nice to have, not a big downer. When you do Synchro Summon it and it doesn’t have battle protection, Primera Primus searches you an Emblema card from your Deck or grave. Currently only two options here: Emblema Oath, Emblema Salvation. If you do add one of the two options then you can choose to pop a card on each side of the field. Spot removal is nice and if you are willing to lose a card in exchange for advantage on field then this is a great effect. Because of the generic materials Primera Primus can be played anywhere a Synchro 8 can be made, and there are many archetypes that benefit from destruction of their own cards that can also Synchro Summon. As for the search, Oath will get you a Centur-Ion Monster into your Spell/Trap Zone, or search out a Centur-Ion Spell/Trap. Emblema Salvation is a -1 but will trade a Centur-Ion monster in your Spell/Trap Zone for banishing a monster your opponent controls.

Primera Primus can Special Summon herself from the grave if you happen to lose a Centur-Ion card on the field through an opponent’s card effect. This is where you’ll get the battle protection and with her able to do this again and again she is a reliable material for your Synchro Summons to get to your Level 12 monsters. Sure, you’ll need your opponent to destroy a Centur-Ion card(s) via card effect, but that is what they will do anyways.

Primera Primus is another Synchro Tuner for Centur-Ion to climb into their Level 12 monsters. Good search ability for the two Embelma options available so far, and the destruction ability is balanced. Primera Primus and Oath will get you that Level 12 and put Primera Primus into the grave to be Special Summoned later with battle protection. Even as a vanilla 2600ATK monster, it will still be a Synchro Tuner and still have a good amount of value on the field.

This seems like the last set to support the Valiant Smashers archetypes for a while, and Centur-Ion is going out with a strong one with Centur-Ion Primera Primus.

Primera Primus is a Level 8 LIGHT Spellcaster Synchro Tuner with 2600 ATK and DEF. Good stats for a Level 8, plus LIGHT Spellcasters are always nice with stuff like White Forest and some of the Branded/Dogmatika cards I guess. Materials are any Tuner and any non-Tuner(s), so it’s completely generic and easy to get to. It cannot be destroyed by battle, unless it was Special Summoned from the Extra Deck. So revive this from the graveyard or banishment and you get battle protection. The remaining effects are each a HOPT, first triggering upon being Synchro Summoned, letting you search for any Emblema card from your Deck or graveyard, then you can destroy 2 cards on the field (1 on each field). The search for any Emblema card finally makes Emblema Oath searchable to get to more of your Centur-Ion cards out of the Deck, or you can search for Emblema Salvation for some more removal. You got the option for a Scrap Dragon effect basically afterwards, which is good if the opponent had a turn and committed to the board. The other effect is a graveyard effect if a Centur-Ion card(s) you control leaves the field by an opponent’s card effect, letting you revive this. Nice revival if the opponent does something to your Centur-Ions, getting you a Level 8 Tuner back for Synchro plays. Having a Level 8 Synchro felt overdue for Centur-Ion, but we’re finally here, and it’s a Tuner to boot to go with Level 4 non-Tuners for your Level 12 Synchros. It’s a great card for the Deck, so it is one of few to be worth using more than 1 of in a tight Extra Deck.

Centur-Ion Trudea gets a new form as Centur-Ion’s long-awaited first level 8 Synchro monster, Centaur-Ion Primera Primus. It’s a level 8 LIGHT Spellcaster Synchro Tuner monster, and it’ll only take any Tuner and any number of non-Tuners, so Centur-Ion can easily make it through almost any combination of its level 4 monsters. Being a level 8 LIGHT Spellcaster also gives it a bit of synergy with White Woods, though that hybrid has yet to see competitive success for now– the chefs have yet to cook this one. Statwise, Primus comes with 2600 for both attack and defense, which are a little low for a level 8 Synchro, but passable enough.

Primus is immune to destruction by battle, but only while it isn’t Special Summoned from the Extra Deck, so you’re meant to revive it with either Centur-Ion Phalanx or its own effect that we’ll get to shortly. Primus has two other effects, both of them hard once per turn– the first triggers if it’s Synchro Summoned, searching an Emblema card or recycling one from your Graveyard back to your hand, then it lets you destroy one card on each side of the field. This is a neat way to access Emblema Salvation, though lists I’ve seen only use it to search and recycle Emblema Oath, which is an extender or follow-up if you already used it before summoning Primus. Primus’s final effect triggers if your opponent makes any of your face-up Centur-Ion cards leave the field by a card effect, Special Summoning itself from the Graveyard. I’m never a fan of relying on your opponent to trigger effects, but since Primus is primarily a combo piece, I can forgive it in this case– for the most part, it’ll be a level 8 body to make another Centur-Ion Legatia as either follow-up or during your opponent’s turn with Stand Up Centur-Ion!. The most important aspect of Primus is being a level 8, since you can branch out into a lot of backup combos using Trudea and Primera or Centur-Ion Atrii. Overall a very nice card for Centur-Ion; they really needed a level 8, so it could have done almost nothing and still be decent, but the extension and follow-up makes it great.

+Provides lots of emergency combos after being hit by Hand Traps
+Excellent follow-up value
-Can’t trigger its destruction effect when revived
-Relies on opponent to revive itself
