You can Ritual Summon this card with “Rebirth of Nephthys”. You can only use each of the following effects of “Cerulean Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys” once per turn.
● During your Main Phase: You can destroy “Nephthys” cards in your hand and/or face-up field, then destroy an equal number of monsters your opponent controls.
● During your next Standby Phase after this card was destroyed by battle or card effect and sent to the GY: You can Special Summon this card from the GY.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Cerulean Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys finishes the week and the archetype focus.

The big Ritual Monster of the archetype, this is Sacred Phoenix reborn. Trade Nephthys monsters in your hand or on the field to destroy cards your opponent controls. Your Nephthys monsters will activate next turn and you won’t lose out on cards. Sharing the same ability to activate in the grave, if Cerulean is destroyed in any fashion it will reborn itself from the grave during the Standby Phase. You don’t need to even Ritual Summon this card to get it back. Pop it in the hand with any Nephthys monster and reap the rewards next turn. This card is easily searched, easy to summon, can be Special Summoned from the grave without having to be Ritual Summoned first, and has a great x-for-x effect that will trigger other monsters of yours and advance your plays. All Ritual Monsters wish they could do what Cerulean can (especially that summon ability without a Ritual Spell).

Happy Friday to me because I finally have a Nephthys card that I really like. Cerulean Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys is a Level 8 Fire Winged Beast-type Ritual Monster with 3000 Atk and 1000 Def. We have great stats, specific and generic ritual summoning mechanics, a non-targeting destruction effect, and it brings itself back for free when destroyed by anything. Run some Trade-Ins to make the deck faster and you’ll have something worth the summoning. I even like the Blue flames because it reminds me of Azula from Airbender. The only downside is the once per turn business, but that’s not enough to detract from Cerulean Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys being awesome.

Ending the week off is the big Ritual Monster of the Nephthys archetype, the Cerulean Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys.

Cerulean Sacred Phoenix is a Level 8 FIRE Winged Beast with 3000 ATK and 1000 DEF. ATK is better on a Level 8 than Sacred Phoenix, but it has worse DEF (interesting it loses 600 DEF and gains 600 ATK as a Ritual), and FIRE and Winged Beast are as good on this as it was Sacred Phoenix. Again, the Ritual Spell for this is Rebirth of Nephthys, just like with Devotee, and Rebirth also mentions this card, meaning Pre-Preparation of Rites. Being a Level 8 in an archetype full of Level 2s makes this really hard to Ritual Summon using just the archetype, so you’ll likely use other monsters from other archetypes, unless you use the original Sacred Phoenix or another Cerulean Sacred Phoenix, where if you use Cerulean Sacred Phoenix for this with Rebirth of Nephthys (or Devotee of Nephthys for the Ritual Summon, but then you need to find 6 more Levels) you can destroy an opponent’s card. Cerulean, similar to Devotee, has two effects and they are both hard once per turns.

  1. During your Main Phase, you can destroy Nephthys cards in your hand and/or face-up on your field, then destroy an equal number of monsters your opponent controls.
  2. During your next Standby Phase after this card was destroyed by battle or card effect and sent to the GY, you can Special Summon this card from the GY.

The first effect is good for monster removal just as long as you still have the resources to destroy to get this effect, but if you do then you’ll get some effects from your Nephthys monsters likely during your next Standby Phase. The second effect is great to make sure you don’t lose this thing after you invest into it, and it having the revival effect after being destroyed in battle makes up for the fact that this card doesn’t destroy anything upon revival like the original Sacred Phoenix does, but once again remember you have to properly Ritual Summon this before you can destroy it to revive it. Cerulean Sacred Phoenix is a nice boss Ritual for the Nephthys archetype, even though the archetype alone will struggle to summon this, but once again you’ll probably mix this archetype with other archetypes, so they can give you the Levels to Ritual Summon this.

Advanced Rating: 3.75/5

Art: 4.5/5 The Phoenix has been revived… and it’s blue? Huh, I kinda like it actually.

Closing the week, and shifting back to the Ritual side of things, is Cerulean Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys.  Rebirth of Nephthys is still the Summoning card here, and this is a Level 8, Fire attributed Winged-Beast Monster, with 3000 attack and 1000 defense.  Level 8 IS high, but it does let us use the original Sacred Phoenix as Ritual fodder, meaning we can bring out Cerulean in only two cards!

Cerulean has two effects, each of which you’re permitted to use once per turn:

*By destroying Nephthys cards in your Hand and/or that are face-up on your Field, you can destroy a number of Monsters belonging to your opponent equal to the number of cards you sacrificed with this effect.  Let’s see…that means even just two or three cards should just wreck whatever your opponent has going, and likely leaving you with an open Field to attack.

*For a revival effect, broader, yet tamer than Sacred Phoenix, if this card is destroyed by Battle (I see this not as likely given the 3000 attack) OR by card effect, and sent to the Graveyard (that definitely being the key part) Special Summon this card during your next Standby Phase.  So, the rebirth is more broad, as I stated at the top of this paragraph…

BUT the destruction aspect is gone.  The effect to destroy Monsters via what you have/control is very nice, just make sure the backrow is clear (or you have answers for them) and there could definitely be some OTK capability here.  This thing is coming back when destroyed, so long as it didn’t get removed, so watch out for that, but it humbles a powerful card.  Hell it can combo with itself

Art:  4.5/5  I do enjoy this picture, but it’s just a bit too much blue for me in one picture.  I do appreciate and enjoy the contrast of the blue flames on the body and the bright flames in the back, however.
