Hello Pojo Fans,

Chaos Dragon Levianeer is this Chaos week’s Throwback Thursday choice.

Not quite the original chaos dragon, but CDL can create some good advantage for you. Three monster needed to be banished versus the traditional two, but with its varying on what to banish it can make it easier to summon than other “Chaos” monsters. As a Level 8 DARK it is good Trade-In and Allure fodder and can be used for a Rank 8 Xyz or Synchro of a 9 (though using just two monsters for a Level 9 is unlikely as the better targets require more). That 0DEF isn’t too much of a think considering 3000ATK, but it still warrants mentioning, don’t put it in defense ever. All LIGHT gives you another monster from your grave in defense, setting up a chance to plus off its effect(s) and gives you fodder for more summons. All DARK isn’t as useful unless your opponent is hurting for cards, then shuffling one back into the deck will be more applicable, but that’s only if you’ve put yourself in a great position. Summoning CDL the traditional chaos way (and the way you’ll summon it most of the time) gives you double destruction. This effect is thankfully triggers off both LIGHT and DARK being banished as you normally will do this and while you are technically going -2 (3 banish and CDL itself vs 2 destruction), it does leave you with a better field presence and can get rid of problems. Because CDL can’t attack the turn you activate the effect, using it alongside the LIGHT you Special Summon off an all LIGHT banishing for its summon could end up being the best effect unless you already have a monster(s) on the field. Getting the most out of a big monster and linking it away or using it for another summon seems to be the way plays are going nowadays.

Traditional way of summoning CDL seems the best way to go. All LIGHT is close behind because of what you can do and with Link Summoning in the game.

Throwback Thursday has a Chaos card we missed when it was released nearly 2 years ago and finally we get to it, Chaos Dragon Levianeer.

Levianeer is a Level 8 DARK Dragon with 3000 ATK and 0 DEF. A great ATK stat overall to make up for nonexistent DEF, DARK and Dragon also makes for a nice combination. It cannot be Normal Summoned or Set and must first be Special Summoned from hand by banishing 3 LIGHT and/or DARK monsters from grave. We up the banish requirement by 1 at the exchange for letting you banish any combination of the Attributes. 3 LIGHTs, 3 DARKs, 1 LIGHT and 2 DARKs, 2 DARKs and 1 LIGHT, all of those are options and it’s nice to have the versatility there. When Special Summoned via its effect, it gains a bonus effect based on the Attributes of the banished monsters to summon this with just banishing LIGHT monsters letting you revive a monster from your graveyard in Defense Position, just banishing DARK monsters lets you shuffle a random card from the opponent’s hand into the deck, and banishing both LIGHT and DARK lets you pop up to two cards on the field. Some great options overall here. LIGHT only offers a great option to extend your plays somewhat or to at the very least have another body on board. It having to be in Defense Position means no reviving Links, but that’s fine. DARK only is great early on to make the opponent start with less cards in hand, which can be frustrating to deal with. The last effect, which could be the most common if your graveyard isn’t that full and you use both Attributes, is mostly good going second and beyond that turn since you’d want to pop the opponent’s cards, which having the option to is great. This card cannot attack the turn you activate any of the three effects, which is fine mostly since you still got this as a body on board for a Link Summon or Rank 8 play. You can also only activate Levianner once per turn, no matter what you banish to summon other copies, so pick your effect wisely cause that’s the only one you get that turn. This is probably one of the best Chaos monsters we have now, mostly due to how versatile it can be with the effects in any given scenario as long as you have proper graveyard setup, which is easy in Chaos-themed Decks. It’s also searchable off Chaos Space and Melody of the Awakening Dragon so it’s not hard to get to. Use as many as you wish in Chaos Decks, but it is still staple in those strategies.

Chaos Dragon Levianeer is as good a Throwback choice as any for this week   Dark/Dragon, Level 8, 3000 attack, everything is good here initially aside from the 0 defense I would say.

Special Summon continues to be the only manner to bring cards out and today it’s by removing 3 Lights and/or Darks from your Graveyard from play.  Said Summon grants you a variety of Attribute based effects as to what you removed at the cost of not being able to attack.

The effects get somewhat progressively better as the conditions change.   Only Light gets you a Special Summoned Monster in defense position from your Grave.  A free Monster is a free Monster but that’s a bit underwhelming.

Only Dark lets you shuffle a random card from your opponent’s Hand into their Deck   Hand disruption is always good and the Deck is probably the best place to put it; short of being able to remove it from play.

Light and Dark lets you destroy up to 2 cards on the Field.  Up to is nice to be included and I like it can be your own cards.  Sometimes it’s easier and more beneficial to get your cards where you need them yourself.  I kinda feel this should be remove 2 cards from play given the Chaos aspect but it is what it is.

Different situations for different situations and on top of that it still has 3000 attack.  A fun card that can do a lot that’s easy enough to drop to the Field.  Hard not to like.

Art:  4.75/5  I like the sky and effects here better than the Dragon but the green on the body is pretty cool
