Card draw, but make it red. Cori Mountain Monastery is a pretty neat way to try and grind out the game in a color sometimes struggling with that, though the ability is hardly cheap (effectively five mana). Still, it’s an activated ability of a land, and the playing window is open until the end of your next turn, so you can definitely make this shine as an extra card to play on your future turn. It’s not likely to be a star, thanks to a lack of fetchability being an issue, but it can come in untapped with a little extra legwork, and the ability shines as a game goes long.

We were warned, sort of, by the first Mystery Booster playtest cards. It’s only a conceptual cousin of Taiga Stadium, not a true reprint or more direct riff, but they are both all about a clever way to reward specific decks while still making the card usable in other decks. And usable it is – while the total cost is fairly expensive as things go, the ability itself is almost uncounterable and on one of the safest kinds of permanents in Standard and Pioneer. Doing it turn after turn, after turn, will add up against decks that care about that kind of attrition or card advantage, and as such you will win games. It’s worth noting that it definitely rewards having lots of cheaper cards – that is, the kind you’ll be more likely to play as soon as possible, so consider your deckbuilding choices accordingly.
