 Hello Pojo Fans,

Throwback Thursday has us looking at the Xyz monster that appeared with the first bit of Vampire support: Crimson Knight Vampire Bram.

Bram had good synergy with Level 5 Zombie monsters that were seen in the archetype, as well as Endless Decay and Reaper of Nightmare. A material for a Monster Reborn of your opponents monster is still pretty good, even if only that monster can attack this turn. The second effect wasn’t very useful at first, being that Bram has 0DEF, but now that Link Summoning is available, Bram’s second effect becomes much better. Bring it back the turn after it’s destroyed and Link Summon before going into your Extra Deck for more.

With more Vampire support here, the likelihood of getting a good plus out of Bram is better.

Throwback Thursday this week takes us back to the last time Vampires got a wave of support in Shadow Specters with the Rank 5 XYZ that support gave us, Crimson Knight Vampire Bram.

Bram is a Rank 5 DARK Zombie XYZ requiring 2 Level 5 Zombie monsters and has 2500 ATK and 0 DEF. ATK is good, but DEF is not. Being a Zombie has massive benefits, and being DARK is nice. You can detach a material from this card to target a monster in your opponent’s GY and summon it, but only it can attack that turn. This effect of Bram is a hard once per turn. The fact that you can’t attack except with the revived monster does suck, no pun intended, but I guess if you know you can’t go for game that turn, then it won’t matter that much and you’ll be able to extend plays. Remember, as I said, the new Rank 6 Vampire can use any monster owned by your opponent that you control as material treating it as Level 6. Once per turn, during the Standby Phase of the turn after this card was destroyed by your opponent and sent to the GY, you can revive this card into DEF position. The revival is nice, but going to DEF is bad considering it has literally no DEF whatsoever, though I guess you can use it for a Tribute Summon. Bram is an ok option as an XYZ, and some of the Vampires that are Level 5 will make sure this is one of the few options you can even summon, so having one in your Extra Deck is recommended. It isn’t terrible.

Crimson Knight Vampire Bram is our Throwback Thursday card (because Vampire Lord would have been too obvious).  Rank 5, requiring two Level 5 Zombies for an XYZ Summon, Bram has 2500 attack (and 0 defense, which sucks, even if it fits the theme).  So, by detaching a material, you can Special Summon a Monster of your choice from your opponent’s Graveyard (effect is once per turn).  That’s fun, and it doesn’t have to be destroyed by this card or anything.  Just any Monster sitting there in their Graveyard that you want.

Also, once per turn, during the Standby Phase after this card you control was destroyed (by your opponent) and sent to your Graveyard, you get to Special Summon Bram back to your Field, in Defense position.  Revival is nice, the wait doesn’t matter, and the 0 defense obviously play a factor in this, but it isn’t too hard to accomplish.  Remember he has to go to the Graveyard to revive though.  So if he’s removed, you don’t get that effect.

Art:  5/5  Not very crimson though.  I see a lot more purple than red.  Love all this Vampire art though.  Beautiful artwork
