Crystal Clear Wing Synchro Dragon – #LED8-EN005

1 Tuner Synchro Monster + 1 non-Tuner “Clear Wing” monster – Once per turn, when your opponent activates a monster effect (except during the Damage Step) (Quick Effect): You can activate this effect; until the end of this turn, this face-up card is unaffected by the activated effects of your opponent’s monsters, also this card gains ATK equal to that opponent’s monster’s original ATK. Once per turn, when a Spell/Trap Card or effect is activated (Quick Effect): You can negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card. If this Synchro Summoned card you control is sent to your GY by an opponent’s card: You can add 1 WIND monster from your Deck to your hand.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Crystal Clear Wing Synchro Dragon wraps up Speedroid Week on Pojo and will use Speedroid Synchro climbing and yesterdays CoTD.

Requiring a Tuner Synchro and a “Clear Wing” monster, Speedroids can make this Level 10 pretty easily. If you can manipulate the levels of a Level 4 and 3 Speedroid to make Hi-Speedroid Cork Shooter, then you’ll be set up for Clear Wing Synchro Dragon, which you then use both to summon Crystal Clear. You can also use different Synchro Tuner monsters like Formula Synchron and another Clear Wing monster to get to Crystal Clear Wing. However you choose to get to this 3000ATK Dragon, you’ll get a monster that can make itself unaffected by an opponent’s monster’s effects and gain ATK to your opponent’s monster’s original ATK for the turn. The blanket protection from your opponent’s monster effects for the turn is great, and the ATK gain off one monster’s effect will boost this monster at least a little bit. It doesn’t negate when it uses this effect, which you’d like to see, but that is why it has a second effect that does. Simple negation ability that also destroys, you love to see it on a big boss monster. Free WIND search when it leaves the field via an opponent’s card in any fashion. For everything that goes into this card for a summon it does its job being a boss monster: high ATK for battle dominance, negate and destroy ability, ATK gain to make it harder for opponents to take it down, pays for itself when it leaves the field.

The first effect can trigger during either turn, but has to be a monster effect, while the second can trigger either turn but can be on any card. You need to decide which effect is best to slide to activate the first effect and which is worth the second effect. While they won’t be able to out Crystal Clear with two monster effects, they can still get over it using another monster made using the first effects negation but not destruction.

Crystal Clear Wing Synchro Dragon is a good successor to Clear Wing Synchro Dragon. Higher ATK, better negation ability. Be tactical when using its negation ability. You may not need the first ability, but you will always have a use for the second ability and the search you get when Crystal Clear leaves the field.

The week ends off with the newest Synchro Dragon boss for Speedroid players to make and the first Accel Synchro for them: Crystal Clear Wing Synchro Dragon.

Crystal Clear is a Level 10 WIND Dragon Syncrho with 3000 ATK and 2500 DEF. Good stats and the WIND/Dragon combo is fine still I guess. Summoning requirements are any Synchro Tuner and any non-Tuner Clear Wing monster, so likely Cork Shooter and Clear Wing Synchro Dragon or Fast Dragon, which Cork Shooter on his own should make getting the Dragon you need easy to get on board. Anyways, soft once per turn Quick Effect when the opponent uses any monster effect to have this face-up card be unaffected by your opponent’s monster effects for the rest of the turn, plus this gets an ATK boost of the original ATK of the monster this responded to. It’s solid, though I do wish you could negate the effect at least considering you did still put a little bit of resources into summoning this, though not much still. Protection from monster effects is still pretty strong. The negation effect this does have is another Quick Effect with a soft once per turn to negate a Spell/Trap Card or effect and destroy it, something the previous Synchro Dragons don’t offer, so finally having Spell/Trap negation is great. Final effect is where if this Synchro Summoned card goes to grave by an opponent’s card, you get to search any WIND monster from the Deck, which is pretty good to have such a large pool of monsters to search, even if it’s likely gonna be a Speedroid since you’re likely running this in Speedroids and Speedroids alone. Crystal Clear Wing is decent, nothing too broken. It’s odd we get this in the same set as a Level 10 Synchro that’s generic, WIND, and has a better effect most of the time for Synchro Decks like Speedroids to use, but this 100% would still come up and be worthwhile. Do still wish the monster effect part was negation still.

Advanced Rating: 3.5/5

Art: 4.5/5 Mix of Clear Wing and Crystal Wing, which is pretty nice.

Crystal Clear Wing Synchro Dragon is the next step up from yesterday.  Level 10, still Wind/Dragon, BEWD atk/def, requiring a Tuner Syncrho Monster, and 1 non-Tuner ‘Clear Wing’ Monster to be Synchro Summoned.  (Cork Shooter and Clear Wing equal 10, I believe).  I’d like a Level 10 Monster to have more than 3000 attack, but that’s a minor(is) quibble on my part.  A Quick Effect again to start where you have the option when your opponent activates a Monster Effect (save the Damage Step, and once per Turn) where this card is unaffected by your opponent’s activated Monster Effects, and it gains attack equal to the attack of the Monster your opponent used to activate of its Effect.  The attack boost here is easier to get, and the protection is nice, it not handled a bit odd.  A second Quick Effect when a Magic/Trap is activated you have the option to negate its activation, and destroy said card, if successful.  Fun Effect there as well, and I love that you can use that on your own cards if you need (sometimes you do).  Floating a Wind Monster of your choice from your Deck to your Hand when this (Synchro Summoned) card is destroyed is good, even though it’s a bit needlessly specific as to how again.  It has to be under your control and destroyed by an opponent’s card (any, which IS good) but it HAS to go to the Graveyard, or you get nothing.  So if it’s removed, you’re not getting that card.  It’s certainly an improvement over the original…even if it is needlessly complicated.

Rating:  4/5

Art:  5/5  I think this is even cooler than the original, but I think part of this has to do with it being more clear.

We finish off the week with the new Speedroid boss debuting in Synchro Storm, Crystal Clear Wing Synchro Dragon. We got a level 10 WIND dragon synchro monster with a pretty stiff requirement: a tuner synchro monster and a non-tuner Clear Wing monster. The only options among the Clear Wing family are the original Clear Wing and Supreme King Dragon Clear Wing; the latter is pretty much out of the question given it being DARK and a bit of a hassle to summon, so your only real option is Clear Wing and a level 3 tuner synchro like Martial Metal Marcher, Tatsunoko, or the previously discussed Hi-Speedroid Cork Shooter. 3000 attack and 2500 defense are average for a level 10, though its effect more or less makes up for it.

Like the original, Crystal Clear Wing has two separate once per turn effects. When your opponent activates a monster effect, you can negate it, make Crystal Clear become unaffected by activated monster effects for the rest of the turn, and make Crystal Clear gain attack equal to the negated monster’s original attack. Having conditional protection is very strange, and I honestly don’t think it’s worth the attack gain either. In addition to this, Crystal Clear can negate a single spell or trap and destroy it– pretty standard backrow hate. If your opponent manages to send it to the graveyard, you can search any WIND monster, so that’s nice to bounce back when your opponent starts taking control of the game. The effects are actually pretty good, but the real question is if it’s worth summoning this guy; you can summon it fairly easily with Cork Shooter, but monsters of comparable strength (Baronne de Fleur and even the “inferior” Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon) can be summoned much more easily. I’d still use it in Speedroids, but don’t expect to summon it too often.

Advanced: 3/5
Art: 3/5 Pretty standard fare, looks more regal compared to the ferocity of Crystal Wing
