Cyber Slash Harpie Lady – #DLCS-EN148

1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters – For this card’s Synchro Summon, you can treat 1 “Harpie” monster you control as a Tuner. This card’s name becomes “Harpie Lady” while on the field or in the GY. When a Spell/Trap Card or effect is activated (except during the Damage Step) (Quick Effect): You can target 1 monster your opponent controls or 1 “Harpie” monster you control; return it to the hand. You can only use this effect of “Cyber Slash Harpie Lady” once per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Cyber Slash Harpie Lady finally gives Harpie players a Synchro monster for their archetype that is Harpie-based.

Generic Level 8 Synchro, decent stats for its level. If you play Haripes, you get the added benefit of making any Harpie a Tuner, that eliminates the pain of searching out a Tuner from your deck, and with Harpies being Level 4 this monster won’t be hard to summon. Becomes Harpie Lady on the field and in the grave will give it a magnitude of support within the archetype. The pop back to the hand effect is interesting. It doesn’t negate the spell/trap activated, but it also gives you the option to pop one of your monsters instead. You can save a Harpie of yours from something like Lightning Storm, but I’d rather deal with something my opponent has put on the field. Cost-free is still cost-free and avoids destruction counter effects. Worth noting it can be either turn a spell/trap is activated, and it can be your own as well, Cyber Slash Harpie Lady can be both offensive and defensive as a monster.

Harpies have needed a personal Synchro for some time now. They have a ton of spell/trap support and some better monsters helping them out now.

From Fusion to Synchro we see Mai got a new Harpie Lady in the form of Cyber Slash Harpie Lady.

Cyber Slash is a Level 8 WIND Winged Beast Synchro with 2600 ATK and 1400 DEF. Overall good stats on Level 8 I’d say, Winged Beast is solid, but again you got the weakest of the Attributes in WIND. For this card’s Synchro Summon, you can treat any Harpie Monster you control as a Tuner, which is fitting considering the archetype has zero Tuners and I rather this than Konami force a Tuner into the archetype out of nowhere that you specifically would need to have for this. This card’s name becomes Harpie Lady while on the field or in the graveyard, similar to most of the Harpie gals. Finally as a Quick Effect when a Spell/Trap Card or effect is activated, except during the Damage Step, you can target a Monster the opponent controls or a Harpie Monster you control and return it to the hand. Nice board clearing to make the opponent waste a summon again, and it should be easy to trigger since Harpies have no issues triggering Spells and Traps themselves. It can even be useful outside Harpie Ladies, though the effect to bounce a Harpie probably wouldn’t be, though that’d only be good really with Divine Wind of Mist Valley I guess. This is a hard once per turn effect since we can’t have too much board clearing. Cyber Slash Harpie Lady is a nice piece of modern support for the archetype, and it can have some generic use. They designed a Synchro for the archetype without forcing a Tuner into it and instead making all your Harpies a Tuner technically. It’s a good Synchro for the archetype that you would of never expected to get a Synchro.

Oooohhh a Synchro Monster!  Harpie’s, generally, of course, are more associated with Mai, but Joey does play Cyber Harpie in the Virtual Arc.  Cyber Slash Harpie Lady (I feel without the Lady would’ve been cooler in the name, but maybe that takes away Harpie support) is a Level 8, Wind/Winged-Beast Synchro with 1600 attack and 1400 defense.  Synchro Summoning requires 1 Tuner and 1+ non-Tuner Monsters.  Winged-Beast brings Icarus Attack into play.  Harpie, as mentioned, brings her/their support into play.  2600 attack is okay, but low on a Level 8.  We see an immediate benefit where any Harpie Monster you control can be treated as a Tuner for the Synchro Summon of this Monster.  That makes it MUCH easier to use in a more dedicated Harpie build without having to force other Tuners in there.  As is popular in the Theme, this card becomes Harpie Lady while on the Field and in the Graveyard.  Which is good support wise, but does complicate matters a bit for what you’re using for Monsters (Cyber and Brother come to mind immediately) just remember you only get the three, regardless of who they are.  Also, we have a Quick effect, true to the Wind theme, where when your opponent activates a Magic/Trap, you can (once a turn) return a Monster they control, or one of your Harpy Monsters, back to the owner’s Hand.  This is great.  Use this defensively if you need to protect or re-use a Monster/Effect, or use it offensively to rid the opponent’s Field of a boss or Extra Deck Monster.  Ideally something they won’t be able to bring back out that turn.  Helps clear the Field at the very least and I love that it’s optional.

Art:  5/5  This is glorious.  The armor, her hair, wings, the dazzling background…everything here just majestically compliments one another.
