Hello Pojo Fans,

Dark Dimension Soldier is a monster that would’ve been useful back int the days of Phoenix Blade.

Generic Level 5 Synchro Warrior that has low ATK, high DEF, sounds bland so far I know. A 1-for-1 that would be so much better if the monster it brought back was summoned face-up so its effect(s) could activate. While this would’ve been pretty good in the days where Divine Sword- Phoenix Blade ruled as a style of play, DDS seems more something you’d see Shaddoll or Tindangle (with the latter having a harder time summoning it). The burn damage will likely be minimal, you’d be better off playing a standard burn card to get more damage out of it.

If we’re not trying to make the most of being summoned in face-down position, any DARK-based deck can benefit from DDS, especially the previously mentioned Phoenix Blade style, which would use DHERO monsters and tech monsters like Armageddon Knight. Cardian have strong DEF and could potentially make use of this monster if their Extra Deck wasn’t filled as it with their Synchro climbing.

I think Dark Dimension Soldier missed its timing on release. Had it been released a few years ago it surely would’ve seen a lot of play. Now though, with how the game has changed and the card pool expanded, in addition to the monster being summoned face-down, I can’t see him being played a lot.

Here’s a card that looks very interesting and can have some insane applications in the future: Dark Dimension Soldier.

Dark Dimension Soldier is a Level 5 DARK Warrior Synchro with 1200 ATK and 2400 DEF. A good DEF stat at least, plus the insanely good combination of DARK and Warrior. Materials are any Tuner and any non-Tuner(s), so completely generic to summon. First effect lets you banish a card from your hand to then target a banished DARK monster and Special Summon it in face-up or face-down Defense Position. 9 times out of 10 it’s coming back face-up to use its effects, with the exception being FLIP monsters. This is a pretty good way to extend your plays by getting a body back on board from the banished pile in a strategy that would banish DARK monsters, or just run Allure of Darkness. Second effect triggers during the End Phase, letting you burn the opponent for 100 damage for each Set card on the field, which is nice I guess, but honestly you’re likely using this as a material for something before the End Phase comes around. Each effect is a hard once per turn, mainly to balance the banish recovery, but maybe this somehow stopped an FTK. It’s a great card on paper, no major application right now, but I’m sure combos exist. This is a card I can see finding a great home in a more competitive strategy at some point.

DD Warrior has been revitalized as a Synchro Monster…so it would seem.  Level 5, Dark/Warrior is great, 1200/2400 atk/def can be fun to sit on…generic Synchro requirements at 1 Tuner and 1+ non-Tuner Monsters.  Simple Effects here…remove from play a card in your Hand to Special Summon a Dark Monster of yours that has been removed…

ANY Dark Monster, so initially, this is awesome.  It has to be in defense position, which isn’t so great, BUT, being able to set it, if you choose, opens some fun plays up, but not enough for that to be particularly viable.  Access to your removed Darks IS good though, and that alone can open up some Extra Deck plays, among others.  Which would make the defense position part of this irrelevant.

You can also inflict Burn Damage to your open equal to the number of Set cards on the Field x100.  You’re definitely never going to capitalize much off of that, regardless of this cards other Effect.  That easily could’ve been 500 on this Effect, and it still wouldn’t ever have amounted to much.  This card is pretty dependent on how long it can sit on its Defense.

I don’t see this as bad, it’s just not good ENOUGH.

D.D. Warrior makes a surprise return as Dark Dimension Soldier, a level 5 DARK warrior synchro monster, bringing back fond memories of the classic DARK warrior pile decks. It has generic requirements, only needing a tuner and a non-tuner, so anything that can easily make a level 5 synchro monster can make it, like Deep Sea Diva or Mathematician. 1200 attack is quite lame even for a level 5 synchro, though having 2400 defense is somewhat better. Thankfully, Soldier is definitely a combo piece so it probably won’t see combat very often.

Unlike its original form, which banishes itself and an opponent’s monster when battling, Soldier has two hard once per turn effects that are both wildly different. Its first effect allows you to banish any card from your hand to special summon a banished DARK monster in defense position. Because of how it’s worded, you actually can banish a DARK monster from your hand then bring it back, though you’ll need a valid target in the first place. A primarily DARK deck will get the most mileage out of this effect (like, say DARK warriors, Zombies pile, or D/D/D), but if you made Soldier with Plaguespreader Zombie, you already got a combo right there. You can potentially climb into a level 12 synchro monster just by normal summoning Mathematician– not particularly exciting in the modern meta, but it is a good example of this card’s combo potential. Soldier’s other effect is a lot more random, burning your opponent for 100 damage for each set card during the end phase. As usual with random burns, I wouldn’t go out of my way for it, but it’s handy for an emergency burn in a jam. Overall a fine combo-oriented card, being a good extender in any primarily DARK deck that can make level 5 synchros.

Art: 3.5/5 What is with that hair?! Actually nevermind, this is Yugioh we’re talking about. The pose kinda lacks finesse, but aesthetically it is much better-drawn than D.D. Warrior so there’s that.

Today we’ve got a retrain for a long-forgotten card. Anyone remember D.D. Warrior? No not D.D. Warrior Lady – just D.D. Warrior! He was the Lady’s little cousin who never saw much competitive play because he was just a lesser version of her.

In fact, I’m surprised they didn’t retrain her instead. Anyways, Dark Dimension Soldier is now a Level 5 Dark Warrior Synchro. His stats are alright for his level and he has a vastly different effect than he did back in the day.

Instead of banishing what he battles, you can Banish a card from your own Hand in order to revive another one of your banished Dark monsters. What’s nice is that this effect doesn’t restrict you too much. It’s literally ANY Dark monster (no level or ATK point requirement). Also, you can Summon or Set your monster. I’m not sure why you’d set your target (unless you’re rocking a more casual strategy that involves Flip effects), but it’s nice to have the option.
Besides the reviving effect, he also burns your opponent for a 100 points for each Set card during EACH End Phase. It may not seem like a lot, but it sure can add up.

Overall, he seems decent. I’m sure there are some silly strategies one can employ that will make this card busted, but I don’t play with enough Dark decks to know what that might be. The only cool combo I can think of off the top of my head is banishing D.D. Scout Plane to get back in the End Phase.

Advanced Rating – 2.5/5
Art – 2/5 (there’s not much difference between it and the original – mostly just an art style change)
