DoSolfachord Coolia – #ANGU-EN021

Pendulum Effect – Your opponent cannot activate a Spell/Trap Card, or monster effect, when your “Solfachord” Pendulum Monster(s) is Pendulum Summoned.
Monster Effect – You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by Tributing 2 Pendulum Monsters. You can only use each of the following effects of “DoSolfachord Coolia” once per turn. You can target 1 face-up card your opponent controls, or up to 2 cards if you have an odd Pendulum Scale in your Pendulum Zone; negate its effects until the end of your opponent’s turn. When an effect of a monster on the field is activated, with an equal or lower ATK than the highest Pendulum Scale in your Pendulum Zone x 300: You can destroy that monster.

Hello Pojo Fans,

DoSolfachord Coolia wraps up our look at the Solfachord archetype.

High ATK/DEF and low scale, Coolia is your low scale to complete a full scale for Pendulum Summons. As a scale, Coolia locks out effects until after your Solfachord Pendulum Summon. Solfachord effects on that Special Summon will activate and you’ll be able to plus a great deal because of Coolia protecting everyone. Blanket protection for your archetype Pendulum Summon as a Pendulum Spell is what this archetype does.

As a monster, Coolia is one of your beatsticks you want on the field attacking and dealing heavy damage. Special Summon ability akin to a two tribute seems pointless when you can Pendulum Summon, but at least it’s a Special Summon. Targeted negation until the end of your opponents turn can lock out big monsters your opponent wants the on the field or prevent Quick-Effects from going off before your Battle Phase, wish it were a Quick-Effect though. Odd scale in Pendulum Zone gives you another negation doubles your control of the field, and in this archetype that requirement will be easy to come by. Destruction ability tied to your highest Pendulum Scale limits you to normally 2400ATK (Scale of 8 x300 through Coolia’s effect) but you can raise a scale by the monster’s level for the turn using Harmonia to get an extra 300ATK added. Here is the Quick-Effect coming into play. Destroying a monster either turn when they have lower ATK through Coolia’s effect is good removal, but could be better. It doesn’t negate the effect, and the bigger the monster, the more likely it is to have an ability to negate Coolia and destroy her.

Coolia is your high ATK monster and your lowest scale possible, you want two copies on your field at all times if possible. Good negation ability on her own, and the destruction ability will keep smaller monsters from setting up your opponents field. Still wish it would negate and destroy rather than just destroy, but can’t be too picky.

The week ends off with the archetypal boss of Solfachords: DoSolfachord Coolia.

Coolia in the Pendulum Zone is a scale 1 that once again prevents the opponent from using Spell/Trap Cards or monster effects when Solfachord Pendulums are Pendulum Summoned. Again, decent effect to help ensure Pendulum Summons and this time it’s on a good, low scale.

Coolia as a monster is a Level 8 WIND Fairy with 2700 ATK and 2500 DEF. Pretty good stats overall, Fairy is still fun, but WIND might still be the worst Attribute in the game. Coolia can be Special Summoned from the hand by tributing 2 Pendulum Monsters, which is nice considering Level 8 isn’t easy to Pendulum Summon in Solfachord, and it’s generic if you want to run this outside the archetype. Next up you got two HOPT effects, the first letting you target a face-up card the opponent controls, or up to 2 if you have an odd scale in the Pendulum Zone, and negate their effects. Sucks this isn’t a Quick Effect, as negation is always better that way, but isn’t like anything Pendulum-related needed more Quick Effect negates anyways. The Quick Effect you do get is when a effect of a monster on the field is activated with ATK less than or equal to the highest Pendulum Scale in your Pendulum Zone times 300, you can destroy that monster. It’s okay disruption, the max you really get is 2400 in Solfachords unless you use Harmonia and the opponent uses an effect on your turn, then you can go to 2700. It can’t really stop stronger monsters, sadly, but free removal is free and it helps stop the opponent from accessing the Extra Deck I guess. Coolia is a fine card to end off Solfachords, nothing insane, but it is generic to use for any Pendulum user I guess.

Art: 4.5/5 I like her a bit as well, not as much as Gracia, but hopefully we don’t waste a Lost Art on this and the minor detail that changed.
