Hello Pojo Fans,
We’re getting musical this week by covering the Solfachord archetype from Ancient Guardians. First up is DoSolfachord Cutia.
As a Pendulum Spell, her protection against the archetype having their Pendulum Summons negated good. Pendulum decks Pendulum Summon and something like Solemn Strike or Warning can wipe them out, so protection is appreciated. Each of the archetypes monsters have a protection ability like this as a scale, so you’ll change who is in your scales depending on the deck you play against. More spell/trap heavy decks will have to likely deal with LaSolfachord Angelia or SolSolfachord Gracia.
This entire archetype is Fairy-Type and Pendulum-based, making our Throwback Thursday choice a must in or against the deck. Cutia has low ATK/DEF but a high scale at 8. Level 1 gives her synergy with One for One and being a Fairy lends her all that support alongside any Pendulum support. EARTH Attribute is a little different for a Fairy archetype, but with these monsters being different notes in music, it makes sense that they’d be different Attributes. As a monster, Cutia is your Solfachord monster searcher from the deck. Normal or Special Summon gives you more options for getting your search off, and balances out her low stats, she’s a pretty standard searcher. The 100 ATK boost by the scale amount of any Solfachord is adds a little more ATK to each Solfachord, though it won’t be anything monumental. Each Solfachord monster has an effect depending on an odd or even scale being on the field. Completing a scale with an odd and even will ensure you get the flexibility to use all your Solfachord monster effects.
This archetype wants to Pendulum Summon and swarm because it has the ability to deal with cards, pump up their monsters ATK/DEF, and negate all without having to rely on spell/trap cards. Cutia helps search out your other monsters and her high scale allows for a full Pendulum Summon of any monster in the archetype.

From reptiles to the standard “waifu” archetype of each Deck Build Set, we now reach the Solfachord archetype, being the first Pendulum archetype in a while and we start with the lowest Level and highest Scale: DoSolfachord Cutia.
Cutia as a Pendulum Scale is a Scale 8 with the effect that your Solfacord Pendulum Monsters being Pendulum Summoned cannot be negated, which is pretty good to help ensure your Pendulum Summons go through, and the 8 Scale is very good on the high end.
Cutia as a monster is a Level 1 EARTH Fairy with 100 ATK and 400 DEF. Low stats as standard for Level 1s, Fairy is a fun typing to play with, and EARTH is always interesting. While you have an even Pendulum Scale in the Pendulum Zone, Solfachord Pendulums you control gain 100 ATK times their Pendulum Scale. It’s a free boost I guess, at the very least it helps the smaller monsters as they have the larger scales and the bigger monsters don’t need the boost as much, which is fine considering they got the smaller scales. Kinda wish it was a more relevant number like 200 or 300 times the Scale, but free boosts are fine. Secondly, you got the HOPT on summon to search for any Solfachord monster that isn’t another Cutia. Archetypal searcher is pretty standard and always going to be good. Nice it’s also on a One for One target as well. It’s instantly a 3 of for its searching capabilites, just the other effects don’t feel too great. It’s your highest scale as well, so might need to put it in the Pendulum Zone somewhat often as well to maximize a Pendulum Summon.
Advanced Rating: 3.5/5
Art: 4/5 I mean, it’s kinda exhausting to see these waifu archetypes continue to be printed every Deck Build Set, but they’re still fine I guess.

I wanted to open with a joke about a Pendulum card of some such, but I did that recently, so we open with DoSolfachord Cutia, another card in an Archtype in the ever growing list of unnecessarily long, moderately difficult to pronounce, and ridiculous sounding names. Level 1, Earth is an interesting pair for Fairies, and the attack and defense here are moot as they usually are on a Level 1. The Monster side shows us that your Theme Pendulum gain attack (100x their Pendulum Scale, so…next to nothing) so long as you have an even scale Pendulum in your Zone somewhere. I mean, 200x should be base when you’re going on anything like this whatsoever. Applied here, Cutia would increase to 900 attack (1700 if this had been 200x as I suggest). A Normal or Special Summon nets you a Theme Pendulum Monster from your Deck. I like this a lot. Super easy, love that you don’t HAVE to burn your Normal Summon for it, and it actually is helpful to itself and the Theme as a whole. The Pendulum Effect ensures your Pendulum Summons (not just in the Theme, for what it’s worth) can’t be negated. Sure, it’s nice to know your Monster is at least going to get to the Field. But, of course, nothing to be done about, you know, after that. But I do like that layer of protection in arriving to the Field. It’s nice to see a higher Pendulum Scale on a low Level Monster, so I do enjoy that too.
Rating: 3.25/5
Art: 3.75/5 I mean, it’s bland, in her picture and the background. Pretty enough, but I can’t quite get to CUTE
