They hinted to us that this card was coming, and gave us time to prepare – and there is almost nothing that tops the enticement of casting an enormous number of dragons for free. They didn’t hint that it would cost eight mana, but it’s kind of understandable that it does; while that’s probably too much for tournament Magic, there are definitely ways around it in other settings, and a properly constructed deck will find it hard to lose once Dracogenesis hits play. Academy Rector may be on the Reserved List, though things like Abuelo’s Awakening or Emeria Shepherd will likely be more interesting for casual games. That requires a lot of different moving parts in the deck, and the right balance of enablers versus big awesome dragons will require some tinkering.
Constructed: 2.5
Casual: 4
Limited: 3 (in draft, you’d likely be able to cast your dragons anyway by the time you can cast this, but it potentially frees up mana)
Multiplayer: 4
Commander [EDH]: 4

Omniscience for Dragons? Sounds spectacular, to say the least. The catch is that this costs eight mana, but if you play your cards well, Dracogenesis can blow a game wide open, thanks to Dragons generally being very well-suited to swooping from the word “go”. This spell does demand a lot of set-up, though, and eight mana for a card that needs additional help to explode the game is a bit spurious, to say the least.
Still, if you know what you’re doing, this should end the game on resolution. Dragons often give you your money’s worth on cast, and they have plenty of support to ensure they can leave a mark as soon as they drop. This definitely is going to be a sought-after card for all sorts of Dragon deck, but I would be pleasantly surprised if this enables dragons to swoop properly in any Constructed format.
Constructed: 2.75 (not convinced this has enough tools to work, but there could be a Standard where this has room to explode)
Casual: 5
Limited: 2.5 (even with the Dragons in Limited, you’d probably rather just have another one)
Multiplayer: 3.5
Commander [EDH]: 4.25
