Hello Pojo Fans,

Dragon Master Magia is the cover card of the set and ends the week on Pojo.

Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon or 3 Blue-Eyes monsters needed alongside a Chaos or Black Luster Soldier Ritual Monster for this card’s summon sounds about as daunting as the original Dragon Master Knight. Ultimate Fusion can use materials from the graveyard, hand, and on the field, making it the optimal Fusion Spell for this summon. There’s a long combo involving Nadir Servant, Garura Wings, Herald of the Arc Light, and Dogmatika Maximus to get the needed materials. I could also see E-HERO Prisma becoming Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon and then searching out your Chaos monster of choice for the summon, though it is a bit slower.

Negate ability once per turn for each of the cards in the game (Monster, Spell, Trap) cost-free is evident for how much you put into the summon. The card activated by your opponent is also destroyed. With 5000ATK and that negation ability this should be a game-ending card. It may not have immunity from cards, but it should be able to protect itself from an Impermanence negating it, and then a spot removal attempt. If you do end up losing Magia, you get back a Blue-Eyes monster or Chaos/BLS Ritual monster to the field regardless of the summoning requirements. You get a powerful monster to replace your Magia, and depending on which one(s) you run, you may have an equally overpowering monster on the field (Chaos MAX Dragon).

You can make a deck around this boss monster and streamline the summoning of it. Sticking with all Blue-Eyes support and monsters will keep the consistency tight and you won’t be lacking attack power. Great negation power for everything you may have to go through to get this monster on the field and it does give you something back that you’d have to normally invest at least three cards to summon. Not splashable but can be a deck of its own.

The week ends off with the controversial $500+ retrain of Dragon Master Knight that was QCR only in the TCG while the OCG can more easily access this, Dragon Master Magia.

Dragon Master Magia is a Level 12 LIGHT Dragon Fusion with 5000 ATK and 4000 DEF. Titanic stats for any monster, LIGHT/Dragon is great as well. Fusion Materials for this are Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon or 3 Blue-Eyes monsters alongside any Chaos or Black Luster Soldier Ritual Monster. So you can use Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon outright or the materials for it so you don’t need another Fusion Summon, plus now instead of base Black Luster Solider, you can use any Chaos/BLS Ritual, including the ones made specifically for Blue-Eyes like Chaos Dragon and Chaos MAX Dragon. Far more generic to summon vs Dragon Master Knight. It must be Fusion Summoned, so no cheating. When the opponent activates a card or effect, you got a Quick Effect to negate the activation and destroy that card, with this effect only being able to be used once per turn per card type (Monster, Spell, Trap). It’s nice to be able to negate 3 cards in a turn between each of the 3 types. The Trap negation gets around Imperm or Evenly while the monster negate can stop the opponent’s plays and the Spell negate stops a consistency card or board breaker. Triple negation power is pretty strong overall. Finally, if this face-up card in its owner’s control leaves the field via an opponent’s card, you can summon any Blue-Eyes monster or any Chaos/Black Luster Soldier Ritual from the Extra Deck or graveyard. So none of the Fusions or Rituals if they weren’t summoned properly, otherwise they’re free to revive. Being able to float into the Blue-Eyes cards in the Extra Deck can be nice for all their Fusions and Synchros as well, especially as we get more with the upcoming Blue-Eyes Structure Deck. Said Structure Deck is probably going to make people want to play Blue-Eyes more, which in turn might make people want to play this card even more due to how good it is. Hopefully it gets an easy to access reprint so the Blue-Eyes players can enjoy playing this without dropping hundreds of dollars, cause it is a card actutally worth playing in the Deck potentially.

Arguably the most controversial card of the year (but not for the reasons you might think), Dragon Master Magia closes the week, a level 12 LIGHT Dragon Fusion monster that represents a step up from the famed Dragon Master Knight. Magia retains its parameters, in addition to packing the ludicrous requirement of either Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon or three Blue-Eyes White Dragons, and a Chaos or Black Luster Soldier Ritual monster. With the recently announced Blue-Eyes support, this is surprisingly doable, but still very difficult for the end result. Statwise, it lags slightly behind Knight, keeping the 5000 attack but losing a bit of defense for a total of 4500, though both stats are still excellent either way. Magia made waves a while back when it was revealed to be exclusive as a Quarter Century Secret Rare, giving it an exorbitant price tag and causing many to accuse Konami of price gouging Blue-Eyes support. But is it really worth it?

Once more, Magia has to be Fusion Summoned to prevent cheating it out, though cheating it out would be a struggle in and of itself anyway. The easiest way to summon it is with Ultimate Fusion, and Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon is fortunately an excellent Chaos monster as the latter material since you can search it with The Melody of Awakening Dragon. Magia’s main effect is a simple negate and destroy Quick Effect for any of your opponent’s effects; while it’s not actually hard once per turn, you can only use it once for each card type (monster, Spell, and Trap), so you’ll rarely be able to use it three times, though two times is fairly plausible. Magia’s other effect isn’t once per turn either, though I will be very impressed if you can somehow summon two of these! If it leaves the field in any way by your opponent, you can Special Summon any Blue-Eyes, Chaos Ritual monster, or Black Luster Soldier Ritual monster straight from your Extra Deck or Graveyard. You’re obviously meant to float into one of your Blue-Eyes boss monsters (like Blue-Eyes Alternative Ultimate Dragon or their upcoming new Synchro monster) or a Dark Magician/Black Luster Soldier Ritual (not recommended); I wouldn’t count on it, but it is great for salvaging some value when Magia dies considering it sorely lacks protection. I’ve memed in the past that all Blue-Eyes needed to be good was an omni-negate, which this effect practically is, though it’s hard to justify those materials even with the new support. One of their new boss monsters, however, is much easier to summon in exchange for a weaker negate, but look forward to that one instead. Magia is a great card in a vacuum, but considering how much work you need to summon it over easier options, I would strongly recommend against dropping $1000 on it.

+Potentially thrice per turn negate is a decent board on its own
-Horrendously hard to make as of this writing
-Lacks protection which is only slightly mitigated by the floating effect
