Mr. Buu

Saiyan Ki Flurry
Card Number: 116
Card Type: Combat - Energy
Rarity: Rare
Expansion: Showdown
Card Text:
(Energy attack for 6 damage; Remove from the game after use.) 3: SUCCESSFUL - Your opponent discards a card from his hand after he performs a physical attack this turn.

Must be “maybe later” week because the cards aren’t really that good right now, or are decent just not good enough. Yet they show promise in the future. Yay? Not really. This is one of those cards that falls under the category of “if I had the room…” Energy for 6 is fun, and the successful effect is nice, but Saiyan really doesn’t need it. Saiyan focuses on cheap 1 or 2 cost attacks to provide a speedy beatdown with happiness. The one card that it should run (aside from the finisher possibly) that costs more than 2 is Saiyan Personal Ki Ball, which costs 4. This card costs 3. That lets you know that it’s already falling victim. But the power, while potent and decent, is not good enough to work out another card in Saiyan’s deck. At least not at the moment. Maybe later, this card will be more useful in a different Saiyan archtype, praying that we do get something besides “I drop 2 Happiness’s with around 9 cards in my hand still, all of which are attacks I can perform” and “Good Game”. =/ Enough fooling around, but you get the point. It’s potent, just not good enough right now. Maybe later…

GDK Saiyan Ki Flurry

This card is Blues worst nightmare. Making the opponent discard a card from his/her hand when they perform a physical attack sounds more like a Black card. But with Blue having cheap physical beats, Ki Flurry cuts down on how many attacks they can do, and also can get any defenses they have out of their hand if they still want to attack after you play this card.

4/5

Personally I've never liked the Saiyan style, and I don't much like this
card either. For 3 stages, having an "optional effect" for your opponent
possibly to trigger isn't really worth it in my mind. Not to mention, the
attack has to be successful anyways.

The thing that really gets me with this card though, is the fact that your
opponent doesn't even have to perform any more physical attacks that turn to
avoid the effect. In addition, you could be playing an opponent that has
mostly Energy Attacks in his/her deck. Seeing as we have no sort of
side-deck right now, or Sensei deck, you can't put this in your deck after
you've seen your opponent is using Physical Attacks....

There are better Saiyan Styled cards out there to put in your deck than this
one, and we now have another new set that's being released to possibly offer
even MORE new Saiyan cards that will be effective in our current
environment.

Overall: 2/5
