DBZ Sagas Walkthrough

I.Q. - A Score Guy

A Close Look at Cell Saga

Cell Saga has introduced level 5 characters, a new set of Masteries, and new rules for Allies, but how does this really affect the game? Let’s take a close look at the impact of Cell Saga and what every style has received from it. Is anger dead or just slower? Which set of Masteries is the best one? What new deck archetypes have been introduced, and how are Ally decks affected by the new rules? These are just a few of the questions that have been bouncing in player’s heads with the release of Cell Saga. Let’s try to see how many we can answer >_^

Level 5’s

We have four new level 5’s in the game and two of them just happened to be Ultra Rares. *shakes fist at Score*   Our level 5’s are Gohan, Cell, Goku and Vegeta, but how do they affect anger decks? Anger decks now have to gain one more level to to win, and Cell’s Threatening Position hurts a little bit more now. But is this enough to kill anger decks, or is it just enough to slow them down?  Anger decks are now forced to play one of those four characters – most likely Gohan or Cell *shakes fist at Score once again* Red decks have had their time, and they were the scary deck for quiet a while, and were able to gain an average of 1 level per Combat (well, some of them were). I don’t think that anger decks are gone, and once they adapt to the new environment they will still be a threat. I can’t wait to see the face of a Red deck player the second he’s at level 4 with 3 anger and gets hit with a Cell’s Threatening Position… that will so hurt >.<

New Ally Rule

Cell Saga does two things for Allies, one of them is really good and the other one is just plain evil. Now it is possible to play level 3 Allies, but is a little harder to be able to reach them. The new rules states that you can not bring an Ally into play that is a higher level of your Main Personality (MP) unless you’re overlaying it on top of its previous level, but you can bring Allies into play that are at the same level of you MP or less. I know that I just confused a lot of you, so I shall translate what the rule book is trying to say.

IQ’s logic: (yes there is such thing):

Example #1: If your MP is at his level 1 you may not bring into play a level 2 Ally unless you’re overlaying (kind of evolving for those of you that are getting confused by this word) it on top of his level 1. In other words if your MP is at level 1 you can not just bring a level 2 Ally into play.

Example #2: You may bring Allies into play of the same level of your current MP level. (Translation: If your MP is at level 3 you can just play a level 3 Ally with out having the level 1 and 2 in play. Simple huh?)

In my opinion Ally decks now have three options:

Option 1: Just play level 1 Allies

Option 2: Play anger and try to gain levels as soon as possible so that you can place the big Allies in play

Option 3: Overlay the Allies and stay on your level 1.

Ally decks did get hurt a bit by the new rule, but the fact that now I can drop a level 3 Vegeta on you and have an energy attack for 7 life cards for the rest of the game kinda covers up for that.  ~_~

New Masteries

Cell Saga is gives us a new set of Masteries and the deck possibilities are huge.... The new masteries give us Black Disruption, Saiyan – the Card Drawing Machine (or as I like to call it Saiyan Suicide), we also get to see Red Physical Beatdowns and Blue counter attack decks. There are a lot of new deck archtypes and all we can do is wait and see which ones are the superior ones... it's just a matter of time now. x_X

A Close Look at Styles

With every new set there's always new cards that will change the environment. Cell is already having a major effect because of the level 5's and the new Ally rule, but let's take a close look at what every style gained.

Black Style

Black was a little forgotten in this set, It got a new Black Mastery and that was pretty much about it. Could it be that Score finally realized that Black was the dominant style and finally decided to take action? Nah, that's giving them too much credit..., but those Score guys probably got something up their sleeve.  @_@

Blue Style

WOW!!! yeah... I think that pretty much covers everything. Blue got a lot of really good cards, a tight mastery *thanks the gods* and a good sleeper card. Let's start with the new Blue Style Mastery... this baby doesn't only fight anger, but it also fights everything else. This new Mastery is what Blue needs to catch up to the other styles and make players wanna declare a Blue Tokui-Waza, or as my friend says "Taco Waza".... humph... those Score guys are making some smart moves, one would almost be fooled into thinking that they know what they're doing. Blue got the amazing cool new Mastery and some other cool cards such as Blue Left Cross and Blue Elbow Drop, but now let's talk about Blue Diving Punch Drill. I think the card is a sleeper waiting to be woken. This card can help you deal with the annoying defense shields of characters like Android 18 and it can kinda help you control when Combat will end if it's used the right way. I think the card has a lot of potential, but players just have to look into it. Did I mention that Blue has finally given players a reason to declare a Taco Waza? >_^

Namekian Style

Namekian keeps getting better and better with every new set. Now Namekian is giving us the ability to recover and do that wonderful card drawing thing. This style’s got a lot of powers with cards like Namekian Energy Focus... a card that allows you to draw a card from the bottom of your discard pile, and if that card is a Namekian card you get to search your deck for an Energy Combat card and place it in your hand. It’s also got amazing recovery with cards like Namekian Fist Catch, which reads "Stop a physical attack. Gain 3 power stages" this card is simply good, specially when facing those pesky Saiyan decks that try to lock you down with the Trunks Saga Mastery. In my opinion Namekian is really good, and I can see it getting better in future sets. ^_^

Orange Style

Orange decks made a statement a while ago and that statement was: "We like Drills, don't like physical attacks, and will destroy your Non-Combat cards before u can even see it coming." The new Orange Mastery takes care of the not-liking-physical-attacks thing while Orange City Destruction says something like, “no Non-Combat cards for you” and who can forget about Orange Haulting Drill which simply says that I only take 3 power stages from successful physical attacks. Orange got a lot of power in this set and I wouldn't be surprised if it became a dominant deck archtype. I think those Score guys are on to something ... o_0

Red Style

Red has officially become the “I'm beating you down weather you like it or not” style. The new Red Style Mastery simply makes all your physical attacks a lot bigger, and Red has enough anger to keep gaining levels and powering up to full – a very scary combination. Red also got a some recovery with cards like Red Offensive Stance and a couple of cool effects with cards like Red Dodge... who said that Red had to play anger? I believe that Red decks now have two ways to go, and they can do really well because physical beatdown and anger just go well together. One can only wonder why Red even got a card that raises your anger and lowers your opponents anger... are we looking at a Red anti-anger in the future? ~_o

Saiyan Style

Hmmm.... what comes to mind when we think of Saiyan? The first two things that appear in my head are “I like to draw cards” and “I like big fat attacks”. In Cell Saga we find the new Mastery that will draw you more cards than you can ask for and we get big fat wonderful attacks like Saiyan Power Kick a possible physical attack doing +8 power stages and Saiyan Power Blast, a energy attack that can do 5 life cards and +5 power stages. Saiyan is only getting bigger and better attacks with a nice little touch of card drawing. Saiyans... peaceful?... Nah. n_n

By now you're probably wondering when I'm gonna shut up, or you have probably closed this window and walked off because we all know that too much reading hurts our little heads. Those you who are still reading my babbling deserve a pat on the back.... c'mon don't be shy... do it.... ok if you don't do it I'm just gonna keep writing.... much better now ^_^

The Cell Saga set actually makes me think that the Score guys are finally getting their act together and focusing the game like they're supposed to, but then again maybe they just got lucky this time... is just one of those things that we will never know......
