Pojo's Dragonball - What If?
What if Krillin had jumped in front of Nappa’s blast
and not Piccolo? To start things off, Piccolo and Gohan would be shocked, but seeing as how neither really were good friends with Krillin yet, they wouldn’t get enraged. At this point Goku would come, and seeing Krillin gone would piss him off ridiculously, but since his power wasn’t high enough for him to go Super Saiyan he probably would have just killed Nappa on the spot with a kaioken attack. Piccolo would sense how strong Goku is and be amazed at how easily he killed Nappa when everyone else struggled just to stay alive. Goku would immediately challenge Vegeta and they would go off to fight. Sensing the energies, Piccolo would follow, but both Piccolo and Goku would tell Gohan to leave and see his mother. Gohan would be reluctant, but would eventually go. The battle between Goku and Vegeta would go as normal up until Vegeta turned into Oozaru. Piccolo would eventually jump in and distract Vegeta with some Ki blasts. He would last long enough to the point where Yajirobe would come out of nowhere and cut off his tail, putting Vegeta back to normal. Goku would then throw the spirit bomb and nearly kill Vegeta, but not quite. He would come back with a power level of around 7,000 because Goku was able to obtain and keep more of the Bomb. However, with Goku essentially out of action and Piccolo almost dead from distracting Vegeta, Gohan would come back and see the artificial moonlight. Basically everything else up until the part where Vegeta escapes would be the same, except it would be Yajirobe who would hold the sword. Goku would convince him to let Vegeta go. Vegeta would say something about going to Planet Namek to achieve immortality before he left, causing the Z fighters to want to go to Namek to prevent Vegeta from attaining his goal. After the battle, Piccolo and Gohan would be treated for injuries and Goku would still be in awful condition. However, knowing that Piccolo is stronger and can take care of Gohan, he would tell Bulma to make a Gravitron for Piccolo and Gohan’s spaceship so they could train before reaching Namek because they know Vegeta would be there. It would take approximately one extra day for that to be done and then Gohan, Piccolo, and Bulma would be off to Namek. Now here’s when the power level change kicks in. My guess would be that Piccolo and Gohan would only be able to train at a max of 20 times gravity because they were nowhere near as strong as Goku was when he entered and Gohan would probably prevent Piccolo from increasing the gravity even more. For this I did some calculations in relation to the increase in Goku’s power level and the difference of gravity (100 from 20) and Gohan and Piccolo’s power level at the time of the Saiyan fight. I would estimate Gohan’s level after the Saiyan fight at around 2,500. So I came up with these numbers: Piccolo- 25,200 Gohan- 18,000 All the rest of the power levels would be the same. On their trip, that little incident on fake namek wouldn’t happen because Piccolo would see right through the trick so they would land at approximately the same time. When they arrived on Namek, they would still encounter Dodoria, but instead of running, Piccolo would fight and defeat Dodoria with some ease. This would cause both Zarbon and Vegeta to sense Piccolo’s power and the two would investigate. However, Piccolo would be long gone by then when he sensed Vegeta’s power level. Zarbon and Vegeta would fight, with the same results. During this time, Piccolo and Gohan would take Dende to Guru and receive their power ups. However, Piccolo would not receive it because Guru would sense his mind was not pure. BUT, he would realize that Freiza had to be stopped and would tell Nail to fuse with Piccolo. Piccolo would eventually understand and would go through with it. Once again, through some math, Piccolo and Gohan’s power level came out to be: Gohan- 31,000 Piccolo- 90,000 (He wasn’t as strong as when he merged with Nail in the story, but Nail is at full health which gave him more strength than before). By the time this was done, Vegeta had killed Zarbon and Freiza had called the Ginyu Force. Vegeta would encounter Piccolo and Gohan, and realizing he couldn’t defeat the Ginyu’s on his own, would join forces with Piccolo and Gohan knowing they would stand a better chance. The battle with Guldo would be the same except it would just be Gohan and Piccolo would come to the rescue. Vegeta would the fight Recoome, but still get his ass beat. Then, Piccolo would step in and kick the crap out of the red-headed nut, which would stun Jeice and Burter. The two members would double-team Piccolo much in the way they did against Goku, except Piccolo would have a much harder time (it would probably be an even fight). Gohan would try to intervene, but would get the crap knocked out of him. Goku would then arrive and give Gohan a half and Vegeta a whole senzu bean increasing their power levels to: Vegeta- 500,000 (wouldn’t change) Gohan- 100,000 (I don’t think his power would get too high because he didn’t fight against Recoome). Goku’s fight with Jeice and Burter would be the same. Piccolo would receive the other half of a senzu bean and his power would increase to around 150,000. When Captain Ginyu arrived, Piccolo and Goku would defeat him eventually, but I imagine Ginyu would swap bodies with Goku and cause some trouble leaving Goku and Piccolo in some damage. Meanwhile, Vegeta would give Gohan some armor and put Goku and Piccolo in the recovering tank. However, Piccolo would recover much quicker and be out in time for Freiza’s arrival. Even though Nail wasn’t there to fight Freiza, he would still wind up killing Guru and take awhile to get back. Gohan and Piccolo would then wish back Tien probably, to help fight Freiza. Through more calculations, I came up with Tien’s power level to be around 210,000. He would be sent close to the scene, so the battle against freiza would look like this: Tien- 210,000 Gohan- 110,000 (armor would help out some) Vegeta- 500,000 (wouldn’t change) Piccolo- 250, 000 (after recovering from fight) The fight with Freiza would be somewhat similar except Gohan would get the horn through the stomach instead of Krillin (I figured since he would be the weakest like Krillin was), but he would still be healed by Dende, causing his power to rise to around 230,000. Tien would be able to stall for time using his Tri-beams, while Vegeta would demand Piccolo blast him so he could get healed and beat Freiza. Unlike Krillin, Piccolo would jump at this opportunity and blast Vegeta instantly. Dende would heal and Vegeta would increase his power to 1,000,000 as in the story. He would be more than a match for Freiza. Meanwhile, Tien would get healed from Dende after he was exhausted from all his Tri-beams, to increase his power to 230,000 (he’s not a saiyan so his power doesn’t increase too much). Freiza would then get pissed and go to Form 3 and kick the shit out of everyone, nearly killing everyone except Vegeta who would be able to withstand some of the onslaught. Freiza would transform into his final form and Goku would arrive. Dende would heal everyone at this time giving everyone power levels of: Vegeta- 2,000,000 Gohan- 500,000 Tien- 250,000 Piccolo- 350,000 Goku would have a power level of a little more than 300,000 because Ginyu didn’t beat him too badly, so I’d say 330,000. That battle would go the same except when Goku was forming the Spirit Bomb, Vegeta would step in to try and defeat Freiza (he thinks that after his recent power-up he stands a chance). The spirit bomb would go as usual, but when Freiza comes back he would put a fatal blow into Vegeta and kill Gohan. Obviously this would cause Goku to go SSJ. Piccolo would take Vegeta with him to the spaceship. The rest of that series would go as planned. After the battle Gohan, Krillin, Yamcha, and Chaiutzo would be wished back. The rest of the sagas would be pretty much be the same except Vegeta may be a little stronger because of being healed an extra time and Piccolo may not have been able to go toe to toe with Android 17 since he never received King Kai’s training.
