LOYAL SCRAGGLEMAW
Today's piece is what can for this article be
considered a "Vanilla" piece. And by vanilla, I
mean a piece with no spice aka effect other than
stats. This particular piece, however, is the
beefiest in the first set. For a 9 spawn cost,
it has 11/12. Any character coming close to its
stats costs more spawn points. For no effect,
the trade off for better stats is very nice. The
only other part of the piece to look at is the
power. Its granted with 4 power, which is a fair
amount for its cost. The majority of the Valor
pieces have power equal to half their cost
(rounded down). Now as far as playability, it is
questionable if it deserves a spot in a Valor
warband or a warband splashing Valor pieces. For
9-drops, it competes with the Zungar Bodyguard,
which has lower stats, one less power, and
Bodyguard (and an extra aspect point..). IMO,
unless you need minis with Bodyguards to protect
low stated characters, Scragglemaw is the way to
go. If you're debating against other high cost
characters, I'd test him out before making a
solid decision.
Sealed - 4/5 , overall a solid piece that can
hold its ground on the dreamscape
Limited - 4.5/5 , very good even wihtout alot of
valor or no other valor at all
Artwork - 3.5/5 , its a lion with battle armor.
pretty sweet. want to see the promotional one

"Loyal
Stragglemaw"
What more could you want out of a loyal feline
friend than what this guy has
to offer? Well, maybe some neat blade abilities,
but as far as pure
strength, this guy gives just that to an aspect
that doesn't normally have
any clear-cut beatdown abilities: Valor.
For the sake of analyzing pieces, this guy has
got to be the most balanced
piece out there. He may not have any great
abilities to fall back on, but
his defense can be invaluable in most
situations, and his 4 Power for only
9V can definitely help to get the abilities of
some other allies to fire
off. 6 dice can sometimes be much different with
that Warcharm than 4, since
the average of rolling a blade is once every 6
times.
Not much more to say about this guy except that
he's worth it, even a bit
more than his noble friend. For not much of a
hefty price, Valor gets one of
it's few playable beatdown pieces.
Overall Constructed: 2.5/5
Overall Sealed: 3/5
Artwork: 2/5 (It gets much better with the Alt.
Art piece....)

Loyal
Scragglemaw
Scragglemaw is really just a nice big puppy...
that could eat Pikachu ALIVE.
That earns him points in my book, that's fer
dang sure.
However, as far as figs go, there is far better,
especially for Valor. 9M is too much for no
abilities and 4 power. Even a Crit or something
would have bumped him up considerably, or at
least 5 power. For roughly the same cost, you
could get Brighthammer Avenger or Whirlwind
Dervish, both of which kick this puppy to the
curb.
I will give him this though, he is cute, and he
can take a hit pretty well.
That's about it though.
Short review, but ces't les vie.
Constructed: 2/5 If you got NOTHING else for his
approximate point cost, go ahead. But I would
not use him if I had a choice.
Sealed: 3/5 Hey, you use what you gotta use.
Could be worse.
No recap since this is so short.

today- Loyal
Scragglemaw, a big-bad valor piece...
it has a spawn cost of 9, and a aspect cost of
one valor. pretty steep....but lets see the rest
;-) it has 4 power- about average. But then you
see its defence/life. wowsers! 11/12. thats big!
just to disrupt it it takes 11! This baby can
hold its own- anywhere. I acctually like this,
and recomend one in a valor-playing warband.
constructed- 4/5 its defece and life make up for
its power.
limited- 5/5 its a scoreing cells castle.
mold- 2/5 it looks like a lion on steroids....
