That Guy That
Plays DreamBlade |
RAGING VANGUARD
Ok so another Valor piece. OHH and Bloodcut. Now
at the 1K I was at, there was about 1/2 to 2/3
of the people playing a Bloodcut variant. No
reason not to, as they're speed and power can
truely be a threat, sorta like this guy. Raging
"Juggernaut" Vanguard is 9VV, and sporting 4 -
10/10. Very solid. Practically a tank. 4 is
pretty good as well, but meh, would it be so bad
to push it to 5?. Whatever. The effect is called
Unstoppable, where the nickname came from. It
can shift even when engaged as well as normally.
JUGGERNAUT!! Ok...so how can this help you?
Obvious stuff is late game, you can double shift
into a high empty scoring cell and win close
ones on off inititive. The main function though,
is really to get help where you need it. Valor,
aside from their finishers, don't really sport
high power. Especially in mirrors with
mono-Valor, it really depends on who gets out
their finisher first. This guy brings 4 dice to
whatever place it can make it to. It may not
seem exciting, but test it. I'm sure you'll find
some cool use for it. Besides, it Bloodcut. It
looks like Bloodcut could dethrone PotR or
Chessmaster, so why not test out what little
Bloodcut is available.
Constructed - 4/5 - In Valor Bloodcut, this guy
is a thumbs up. P/V Bloocut, see if you have
room, cause you're gonna want a Battlelord in
there before this guy.
Sealed - 4.5/5 - Haven't done Sealed with this
set, but it seems like it has potential to win
games.
Artwork - 3.5/5 - some guy at the 1K made a
reference to some European statue that looked
like this. cool I guess...

Raging Vanguard
Definite one of the cooler Bloodcuts out there,
right along with Kitsune (another Valor member).
Thing is, the two actually don't work quite so
well together because Vanguard can pretty much
go where he wants when he wants anyway. Of
course, getting him into the action in the first
place would be quite helpful.
This guy also has some other stuff going for
him. 4 power is entirely acceptable for a 9 drop
these days (5 would have been great, but don't
see that very often, not for Valor anyway), and
10|10 is gonna take a bit of work to disrupt or
kill. Frankly, he's a pretty good utility piece,
if slightly uninteresting, because he works for
Valor, Bloodcut, and is pretty splashable so
long you have a few more Valor pieces with you
(hint, Virtuous Maiden, Scarab Warcharm, and the
Scouts are good low cost figs).
As for his effect... it's utility, as I said.
Don't wanna bother with Scissors and Pariahs
that are just there to slow you down? Blow past
em with this fella. Not that he couldn't kill
them on his own with relative ease, but when you
need him to help take out a Baxar or Rage Drake,
he'll be coming to the rescue soon enough. He's
also good for blowing past and setting up an
Arch, or getting a reinforcement piece (Griffin
or Lion, whichever) to help things out even
more.
I just wish he had ONE more point of power.
Constructed: 3.5/5 Like I said, he plays well
with others and is a good utility piece. Depends
on what else you have for the 9 spot though.
Limited: 3/5 Sure, why not?
