Oooh. Pretty colors. Heehee!
...
Moving on.
Rather odd seeing a Hiveling in Madness,
considering how the rest of them are Fear, but
eh, whatever. The bug guy is still pretty cool.
8M puts him in the upper echelon of your spawn
curve, but 5 power is definitely pretty good,
considering how a lot of figures cost upwards of
three or four points and only have 6. 6 Defense
is obviously pretty low, but for Madness, hardly
unexpected, while 12 life is rather nice.
Then, there is Reincarnate. That means you get
two figures for the price of one! Fun! Granted,
it has to be a dead figure you are bringing
back... and it is only going back to your
reserves... so I guess it might not be THAT
awesome.
But hey, stat wise, there are NOT many Madness
figures that beat him, and second chances ARE
good. Oh, and he is very, very pretty... in a
creepy etherial bug way...
Constructed: 3.5/5 He is good, and he functions
as a beatstick, which Madness kinda need. I
personally would not use him outside of Madness
though.
Limited: 4/5 You pull him, you play him. Maybe
not Dreadmorph Ogre, but that hardly means he
won't get a win or two on your scorecard.

Reincarnate
We begin another week of reviews with a good
looking mini. Chrysalis Spinner looks like a
transparent fairy. She made number five on my
list of best sculpts. Looks really cool when you
hold her up to a light. But this cute little
nymph is about more than just good looks. At an
8-drop she boasts a 5-die attack, which is
pretty sweet. Madness typically features
creatures with low Defense but high Life
numbers. The Spinner is no exception. Her
numbers are not gaudy, but very solid. In fact,
all around, this creature is a solid warrior
right out of the box, without even considering
her ability. Which is what makes her ability the
real icing on the cake. Reincarnate allows you
to bring one of the other creatures in your
graveyard back into your reserves when she is
destroyed. So far in this game, this is one of
two creatures that can bring back a creature
from beyond the grave. For most players who are
operating on a budget, this is huge. Generally
you have only one of a few key creatures in your
warband and when they are gone they are gone.
But the necromancer fairy is here to grant your
wishes and raise the dead for you. The thing
that makes this such a good mini for warbands
running Madness is that you would normally
expect a creature with an ability like this to
be a wuss, forcing you to have to consider using
a weak piece just to get a second chance with
one of your fatties. Not so! The little
butterfly babe is buff and knows how to use it.
I put this piece on par with Whirlwind Dervish
for Valor... doesn't really fit the normal
themes (movement, crit warpstrike, etc.) but too
good to overlook.
Constructed: 4/5
Sealed: 4.5/5 (her versatility makes her even
better in limited formats)
