Temple
Ahh, our first location, vunderbar!
The Temple is definitely a nifty piece too, and
one I'd actually consider playing outside of
passion. Just put it in the center of the board
and you are pretty much guaranteed an extra 2
spawn points. That makes getting... EVERYTHING
into play easier. I mean, heck, add in a
Rainforest Shaman right there, and that's 3
extra spawn points right there, and since the
minimum number of spawn points you can get for a
turn is 5 (ties are rerolled and 1s mean
everybody skips the spawn phase) that means you
would start with EIGHT spawn points to your
opponent's 5. There is a HECK of a lot of stuff
you suddenly have access too that your opponent
can't even touch, and that's on the MINIMUM
roll!
Now yes, 3PP is a leetle bit up there, aspect
wise at least, but the ability to get big things
out so much faster is definitely something to
consider. It may not move everybody like
Pearlthorn Castle, weaken enemies like Skull
Hill or Gateway to Psychosis, or pump your guys
up like Darkheart Cottage, but YOU are summoning
Axemorph Demons and and Heart Renders while your
opponent is stuck summoning... well, I guess
when you get that high up it's all good, but
still, he's stuck summoning things that aren't
quite so big. So there!
Constructed: 3.5/5 Playing Passion? Try to not
to mess up your shoes from all the blood.
Limited: 4/5 Even better, whether you are
playing Passion or not, simply because YOU have
options your opponent doesn't.

Location

First, a quick editorial note: I missed my
chance to review the Scarab Warcharm yesterday.
But no sweat, Charninja had us covered. If you
read his review, than here is mine: Ditto. Nuff
said.
Today we take a look at what is, in my view, the
second best location in the current game (after
Pearlthorn Castle). Heartsblood Temple gives you
an extra 2 spawn points every turn, so long as
there is at least one local or adjacent enemy at
the beginning of your spawn phase. You plunk
this puppy down in the center cell (the one that
scores 2 conquest points) and you can pretty
much guarantee it'll be pumping out the spawnage
for you every turn. Two extra points may not
seem like much, but if you get a consistent
spawn advantage you will quickly realize a
distinct edge over your opponent in the number
and quality of creatures you are getting into
play. What's more, one of the downsides to
playing locations is that it slows down your
ability to establish presence in the DreamScape.
But the Temple effectively reduces its own cost
to 1 on the very next turn and starts paying
dividends every turn thereafter. This is one of
a handful of pieces that you can splash into any
warband, although the double aspect cost does
force you to use a few other Passion pieces to
make it cost-effective.
Constructed: 4/5
Sealed: 3.5/5 (The double aspect hurts a
little.)
Artwork 2/5 (Looks like an Aztec wedding cake
made by a geometrically challenged baker.)
