Mega Detonator
Well at first glance this card looks horrible. You
discard a card from your hand just to get a two mana
Magma Gazer, without the +4000 power attacker
ability. Sounds aweful huh? Well there's a certian
way to use this card.
Before I go any further I must say that this card
only belongs in a deck that has a lot of hand
advantage. Here's what you do. First you cast some
kind of removal card, in order to kill off an
opponent's blocker. Next you cast Mega Detonator in
order to give all your creatures Double Breaker. You
gotta dump your hand to do this though. Finally you
attack for the win.
Normally after playing a removal card such as Terror
Pit, you would not have enough mana left to cast
another card. But since Mega Detonator only costs
two mana you can still cast it after a removal card.
Well anyway that's how Mega Detonator should be
played. I'll have to give it a three since I think
dropping your whole hand is a big gamble.

Today's review from
Jordyce is Mega Detontator, a two-play spell that
lets your guys smack 2 instead of 1. Shields that
is.
First of, this cards effect is quite nasty against
your opponent because if you play this right you can
have yourself a double breaking Braid Claw on your
second turn. But that also messes your hand up,
discarding is a major downside this card. Against a
deck without blockers you can summon Braid Claw,
play Titan Gett/Baron Vorg/Brawler the next turn,
hit a shield, and the turn after you play Mega
Detonator. Assuming you started first though, that
leaves you with no cards in your hand - and your
opponent down all their shield. It may seem good,
but blockers, shield triggers and destruction spells
start to take their toll on cards like this.
Fire has no drawing power, and the way fire works it
also has pretty bad management. From what I've seen
most fire decks have a hand of about 2-4 avearge
meaning that you could mess yourself up from playing
this card.
However, should you play this card with dark/light
it becomes a lot stronger. Let's think of the combos
you can do here:
Mist Rias + Mega Detonator = Summon a creature, use
the card to give it double breaker. A bit delayed,
but it works. You also have to have pretty a large
mana base to begin with.
Mongrel Man + Mega Detonator = Red/black is known
for creature destruction, and your hand should be
rewarded for it. Red/black normally dosen't play too
many creatures though, so Mega Detonator only gives
2-3 guys double breaker.
I would most likely never play this in a mono-red, I
would use Magma Gazer and Blaze Cannon over this any
day, because I only lose one card from hand (the
played card) and all my guys get the power up
ability to smash any blockers in the way. If your
not playing mono-red though, this card is good
replacement to Blaze Cannon. It's cheaper, but you
pay in a way other than mana.
Constructed, Mono-Red: 1.5/5.0 - Stick to Blaze
Cannon/Magma Gazer.
Constructed, Red+Other: 3.5/5.0 - If the other color
has drawing, this card is a bit more useful.
Limited: 3.0/5.0 - Double breakers are nasty, but
Sarius will block allot of them. It has draw power
though, so playing it with light/dark is advised.
Artwork: 3.5/5.0 - It's a funny picture, but I don't
really like the style used. More explosive power.

My
favorite finisher, this thing is INCREDIBLE with
some support.
I
use this in my light/red deck and it completely
owns. Mist Rias and Vizier of Magnetism give this
thing a wide range, making even your smallest
creatures double breakers.
Casting for only 2 gives you an opportunity to play
this fast for a hard hit, possibly the game. This
thing can also giving you a come from behind victory
against people not playing blockers. If your hand is
full of useless stuff that won’t take out their
creature, you can take a hard shot at their shields,
hoping that they don’t have g0d luck.
5/5,
this thing is magnificent
