Vampire Silphy
Ofta... make yourself a path! Silpy's downfall is
that you have to make it to your 8th drop. If you
do, and you've been running a good deal of removal,
taking out the big guys along the way, Silphy can
take care of the chaff, clearing you a nice attack
path.
In limited, it can work for you if it suits your
deck, but it's not as effective as a constructed
deck focusing on destruction.

Vampire Silphy:
The 7 mana casting cost is a bit steep, and it lacks
the Double Breaker ability of its Super Rare
Darkness
brethren -- but the cool "comes into play" effect
that
wipes the board of all creatures 3000 points or less
works very well against the current deck archetypes
of
Red Rush, Gang Green, and Blue Bounce (as long as
the
game can be stalled to a mid-game point to allow
Silphy to maximize the carnage inflicted).
Silphy has not made it into any of my decks, but
Silphy has made timely appearances on my opponent's
behalf, with often devastating (and sometimes,
irrecoverably) consequences to my goal of victory.
