This is an
interesting card. At a 5000 for 6, it's not
disgusting, but not amazing. Against a light
deck, though, it can be brutal. If you got
this down in multiples, it can be crippling.
The problem is a lack of a sideboard - play the hate
main deck or leave it at home. When faced with
that decision, unless you know your metagame is
light heavy, I'd leave it at home. He's not
good enough stand alone. He's huge in limited,
though, and I'd definitely play him

Volcano Smog,
Deceptive Shade
Despite there being only a handful of playable
Ghosts currently--Jack Viper, Grey Balloon & Wailing
Shadow Belbetplho--I actually dig the Ghost race.
Not all of the Ghosts mind you, but I like oddballs
like Masked Horror more than I probably should.
Smog's a Ghost that doesn't have a ghastly drawback
like destroying another creature or paltry 1000
power for 5 mana. Still, in line with its race, its
a creature that leaves a lot to be desired.
PROS:
1. Makes your Light opponent play more to cast
spells and summon creatures--to the tune of 2 more
mana! If your opponent is playing Mono-Light sans
Pits, he'd better tap & kill this guy quickly to
avoid an even slower playing deck. Really, making
your opponent play 8 mana for Holy Awe is sw33t.
2. Evo bait--but don't even think about it! A Jack
Viper on this guy means that something's wrong with
your deck.
CONS:
1. Narrow application. It's taxation effect only
works versus Light. That means it does zippy-do-dah
versus other builds. Kinda makes you long for a
sideboard. Then again, I wouldn't want a sideboard
because everyone would run Light. Oh, but then this
guy would have a purpose. Oh, but I digress.
2. 5000 power for 6 mana isn't horrible; it's just
not great for the 6 spot.
But hey, if you're getting away with its effect,
then you probably aren't swining with it to lose it
to a blocker.
RATING:
2.5/5. If you play in a Light heavy meta, then you
can give a creature like Volcano Smog a chance
because it could slow down Holy Awe/D-Cut runs and
irksome creature summoning. It's especially fun to
have out when you play that kid who's dying to drop
Miar or Hanusa. Haha.

Volcano Smog-
Uncommon-#33(DM-04)
Well we continue this week with another anti light
card, Volcano Smog... man they sure do make a lot of
cards like this dont they... must be the meta
game...
anyways todays card is more useful than yesterdays
because it has more uses than just one, because if
the opponet isn't playing light its not just mana
food/dead card in hand. This is also a creature that
is 5000 for 6. sure its a little over costed, but
I'd rather have it in play than my hand. Now if you
are playing against light this thing can be a
distructive force and can stop it all by its self,
if you manage to get two in play.... man your
opponet will be mad...
ratings:
constructed- 2.5/5 since it isnt a dead spell vs
non-light decks it has more use
limited- 3.5/5 what can I say its a beast in
limited, stop light decks and you have a 5000 in
play.

Volcano Smog
Hmm. Six mana for 5000 power isn't very good. This
card seems useless, but in a multi-civ deck, you
might be able to combine it with it's kin, for a
good mana lockdown. Just throw all the "this color
costs two more mana" type creatures into one deck
with Bolzard Dragon, and some other mana lock. It
could work. Maybe not though. I'd have to playtest
it. Anyway this card should only be run in a mana
lockdown deck. Otherwise it's garbage.
