Grape Globbo
Cost: 2
Civilization: Water
Card Type: Creature
Race: Cyber Virus
. When you put this creature into the battle zone,
look at your opponent's hand.
Power: 1000
Civilization: Water is all about manipulation, draw
power, field control, and is still one of the
dominant mono deck types. Very few mono decks placed
high in the past Invitational Circuit and mono water
was the deck to take the cake.
Cost/Power: 2 mana for 1000 power is seen in popular
low cost water cards.
During Limited Format events, low cost creatures can
mean the difference between winning and losing.
Emeral still stands as king of low cost manipulation
but Grape Globbo's use in the Continental
Championships showed how Emeral could take a
preverbal back seat for a moment and share the
limelight.
Abilities: Upon summoning, Grape Globbo gives you a
free peek at your opponent's hand. It's a pretty
standard ability that with past cards such as
Scheming Hands and Rain of Arrows wasn't taken
advantage of by the masses.
When mixed with discard cards, Grape Globbo makes
every discard play that less risky. How many times
have you seen or heard of a Cranium Clamp,
Locomotiver, or Lost Soul give the opponent a free
summon? It can be more often than you think
especially with Water/Light decks packed with draw
power.
Card Efficiency: Unless run with discard cards,
Grape Globbo's ability will mostly just provide the
ability to see what to play or not to play and what
options your opponent has.
Constructed: Grape Globbo will mostly just serve as
tech for discard focused
decks who do not want to deal with Dava Torey,
Seeker of Clouds as early as turn 4. 2/5
Limited: Grape Globbo is just as usable in limited
due to being one of the few low cost cards that
serve a dual purpose. 2.5/5
