Hey all, This
week are going to preview some of those new
cards from Thundercharge of Ultra Destruction!
And dont forget, This weekend is the release
tournament! Anywho, Onto the preview review ;-)
Name:
Venom Charger
Cost: 3
Type:
Spell
Civilization:
Darkness
Rules
Text:
[Charger],
Choose a creature in
your battle zone. Until the end of the turn,
That creature gets "Slayer"
Mana Number:
(1)
Alright, to
get things started. I'll go into detail exactly
what the [Charger] ability is/does.
A card with
[Charger] printed in its text box, Once played
goes into your mana zone instead of your
graveyard. This seems like a pretty cool effect
at first, But lets take a deeper look.
There are
other spells in this set with the [Charger]
ability, Some that gain you mana and others that
bounce creatures, But for a price. While this
card only happens to cost 3 mana. Others cost up
to 5 mana to cast.
Now about the
mana to effect ratio. This card is pretty well
balanced, 3 mana for a slayer effect also
netting you one more mana into your mana pool.
Not too shabby if you ask me, Although the other
chargers in the set really dont appeal to me
like this one does. Seeing how this card can
make any creature you control a [Slayer].
Need to get rid of that pesky Crystal lancer but
all you have out is a small little Marrow Ooze
who cannot even block him? Venom Charger
is your answer..
What else could you play for 3
mana?
-
x2 Marrow ooze + Bloody Squito? < would give you
many good blockers to stall your opponent from
winning a few turn, Although Crystal Lancer
would get right by them.
- Bone
Spider? < He's a 5000 power body, but just like
Bloody Squito he's destroyed after he wins a
battle.
- There are
many different cards you could play with 3 mana,
But none with this same effect and none of them
net you one more mana.
Constructed:
2.5 / 5 < If your tring to use slayers in a
deck, There are much better slayer effects to
use than this. Even if they dont get you + one
mana, They would effect more than one creature,
or come built into the creature. Much better
IMO.
Limited:
3 / 5 < I like this card in limited format,
Giveing one of your creatures the slayer ability
is nice, But netting you +1 mana is even better.
With the limited mana excel. in limited,
Chargers could be (ab)used. Giveing one of your
creatures slayer is also good for takeing care
of your opponents fat creature(s). So if you
choose to run Darkness in limited and come
across this card. I would suggest picking it up.
Well, Thats
all for today. I'll be reviewing all week this
week (Nothing better to do lol). tomorrow, If im
not mistaken is..Another preview-review from
Thundercharge!
Good luck in
your duels and happy dueling! This is
DimAssassin signing off. ;-)
