Hey guys, it’s me!  I’ve been sick lately, and haven’t been able to get online much, but I’m finally feeling better and am ready to return to my COTD duties.  I’m sorry I missed those other cards, but the other reviewers really said everything I was going to say anyways.  So, that being said, let’s get to today’s card.

Death Cruzer, the Annihilator

Cost:  7

Civilization:  Darkness

Card Type:  Creature
Race:  Demon Command

  • When you put this creature in the battle zone, destroy all your other creatures.
  • Triple breaker (This creature breaks 3 shields.)

Flavor Text:  Its only friend is the empty echo of death.

Power: 13000

Mana Generated: 1

Rarity:  Super Rare

Card Number:  S3/S5

I have to hand it to Death Cruzer.  He makes the other Triple Breakers look playable.  This guy also has one of the best ‘loophole’ effects in the game.

Civilization/Race:  A dark Demon Command.  Demon Commands have a lot of support, and they can evolve into Ballom.  This guy is not well suited to that task, though, and he simply works much better as a beatstick.  Nothing wrong with him here.

Cost:  He costs seven.  Kinda pricey, but for the right power/effect, it’s worth paying.  This guy has an AWESOME power to cost ratio at 7:13000, and he triple breaks.

Power:   13000 power is nice.  It can flatten nearly anything that crosses its path.  At his cost and power, he HAS to have a drawback.  Guess what?  He DOES!

Abilities:  His first ability is that he is a Triple Breaker.  Breaking three shields with one strike is nice, but I really don’t have much more to say about that.

His second ability is what shoots him in the face.  When you summon him, you have to kill all your other creatures.  This effect can be very bad for you, but at certain times it can be used to your advantage or avoided altogether.  If you have a bunch of creatures that go to the mana zone when they die, this guy can provide mana accel by killing them all.  The monsters killed by his effect can then be used with Enchanted Soil, or can be Dark Reversal-ed into your hand.  The best idea though, is to summon this guy when you have no monsters on the field.  Plain and simple.

Ok, now that I’ve reviewed these stats, let’s see how they stack up.

Constructed overview:  If you use him right, he can be a beast.  Still, your opponent will try to kill this guy before he can get off a strike, but should they not be able to, this guy will bring home his bacon.  I like bacon.  But back on topic, use this guy with caution.  Don’t summon him on a field full of creatures, because there’s no point in losing field advantage to summon Death Cruzer.  There is nothing worse than nuking a small army for Death Cruzer, then having your opponent kill it.  Or worse yet, Corile it.  v_v  I can’t say I’d rank him too high.  He’s fine, but not great, but he’s too conditional.  Overall, it’s the fact that he hurts field advantage that makes me dislike him.  2/5

Limited overview:  Pretty much the same.  He is a relatively low priced creature that can break three shields, so long as you are willing to kill your whole army to summon him.  He has more staying power in this format, so it’s likely he’ll do better than in constructed.  3/5

I’m finally back. I was caught up in schoolwork for quite a few weeks, and couldn’t quite keep up with online activities. Anyway, I’m back, and hoping to be more active in pojo and other things.

Today’s card is Death Cruzer, the Annihilator (hope I spelled that right). It’s a new demon command evolution, and quite powerful. However, no one has even considered using this card up to now. Let’s see why:

Positive Points: This card is a 13000 power creature, 1000 more than Ballom, and a triple breaker, meaning that he will break one more shield than Ballom. He also costs only 7, one mana cheaper than Ballom and currently the earliest triple breaker (faster than nocturnal because Cruzer has haste). It’s also a demon command, which has turned from a minus to a plus, thanks to all the support it keeps getting, and cheaper evo baits, like the 4 mana one next set. We’ve gotten Photocide in 4th set, Vashuna in 5th set, and now the 4 mana with 11,000 power one in 6th set.

Negative Points: It’s all looked great up to now right? Well wait till you read this card’s text! It destroys every other creature on your side of the field. That means all your dreams of swarm, and most probably control, will probably quickly diminish if you use this card. The card is one of those cards that are slightly effective in combos that will go off 5% of the time. For example, using Death Cruzer on turn 7, Ballom turn 8, and Divine Riptide turn 9 would probably mean you win, but it’s a combo that’ll rarely ever work, and easily beaten.

Overall, stay away from this card. Its card effect is too bad to make it playable.

Ratings:

Constructed: 0.001/5 (Well, they did name this card correctly, it really IS the annihilator. Of your own deck that is.)

Limited: 0.001/5 (There’s only one demon command in this set that can serve as bait, and it’s a rare. This card is a super rare. Chances are you’ll never get both cards in your deck, let alone play them and get good results.)

Death Cruzer, the Annihilator

My first COTD

Name: Death Cruzer, the Annihilator
Cost: 7
Race: Demon Command
Civilization: Darkness
Type: Creature
Rules Text:
When you put this creature into the battle zone, destroy all your other creatures.
Triple breaker (This creature breaks 3 shields.)
Power: 13000

Okay this card is pretty good when you first look at it.  Wow! It has triple Breaker and 13000 power and look at that cost It is only 7.  Then you read what is not in the reminder text it says destroy all your other creatures.  Then you think.  What where they thinking when they printed this card.

Positives:

Cheap and very fast triple breaker.

13000 power what can beat that.

Negatives:

You lose all your creatures.

You cant recover.

Needs some back up in hand otherwise you cant start your come back.

Limited:

Think bomb rare and I think this qualifies for it.

7th turn beef and no real way to stop it.

You can easily start playing blockers after you play him.

Constructed: 1.5/5 needs to a way to stop its first effect other wise this should not see tourney play

Limited: 3/5  Is the beef needed to win It you can sacrifice the other creatures.

Art: 5/5 awesome who wouldnt want a demon shooting lasers out of his eyes and making a pool of. stuff.

Today we review Death Cruzer, the Annihilator: the Darkness Super Rare out of Survivors.

Death Cruzer, The Annihilator

Civilization: Darkness

Type: Demon Command

Cost: 7

Power: 13000

Ability: Triple Breaker

Destroy all of your other monsters when this card is played.

Ok, the last review didn’t go that smoothly, even though I still think that it’s not really that bad of a card. However, that’s in the past. Let’s move on…

I’ve seen play in this card…people crazy enough to think that it won’t die within a turn. It’s kinda sad…but better to point and laugh…

The Plus Side

If you look at it, 7 for 13000 power and triple breaker is not at all bad. In fact, most mana production decks would probably take a stab at that, if they play heavy-fatty decks.

We all know triple breakers are amazing. One hit means you’re about half way through to winning. Because of the fact its cheap makes it better than crap like Billion Degree Dragon, who does nothing really.

It’s also a Demon Command. It’s kind of hard to believe that a giant, machine slasher spider thing can evolve into a morphed-up winged rabbit (ballom). Anyway, it’s cool if the thing won’t die. You kill all your monsters on your turn with the Death Cruzer. Then, you Ballom the next turn. It’s like a Dark Hole for Duel Masters, only you still have a monster!! Well, slap my face and call me Susan, That’s Amazing, Right??!!!

The Negative Side

If you didn’t already leave yet, then it’s time to get back to reality. The card blows. I would rather use anything besides this card. Even Night Master, Shadow of Decay…

If you took out the not destroying-your-monsters stuff, then I’d be overly abused, since having a 7-cost triple breaker that stays at 13000 is crazy. Makes Nocturnal Giant look like a twig with Christmas lights.

Nevertheless, the effect kills almost all possibility to use the card. The 7-cost is a horrible place for the monster, as it is viable to be snared, terror pitted, spiral gated, teleported, coriled, or chain of sacrificed the next turn. Even a Storm Shell or Swamp Worm’ll take care of this thing…

The best case scenario for this would be if you had no monsters to begin with, but by then you’d know you’d be knee deep in your own crap. What good does a strong monster that can’t attack yet do you when you got like 5 attackers ready to slash up your face???

*sigh*… Not that you need it, but here’s “what else can you use???”

- Zaggan, Deathliger, Trox, Vashuna, or Photocide?

- Terror Pit, Snare, Holy Awe?

-…

-…

-…

- I left those blank. You can fill them in, it really doesn’t matter…

The Limited Side

Well, here, it may have some sort of a use. Triple Breakers are more crucial here, as there is a less chance you’ll hit a decent shield trigger or run into a huge blocker or something. Killing your monsters still hurts, but hey, you gots one big monster to smack up some people with. I wouldn’t take it based on the effect, but if you got foil fever, then take it.

The Recap

Here’s the + and – again

Pluses

+ 13000 power

+ Triple Breaker

+ Demon Command

+ 7 cost

Minuses

- Probably the worst Triple Breaker.

- Bait for pit or snare or anything really

- Just flat out sucks. That basically clears up everything

Constructed-1/5- Horrible. Just horrible. If you use this…let’s just stop there.

Limited-1.5/5- Slightly better since it can do more damage and last longer, but effect still lingers on.

Art-4.5/5- The only cool thing about the card. It’s a giant slasher spider thing that shoots lasers out of its eyes. Still blows my mind how it can evolve into Ballom…

That’s it for the Disappointing Death Cruzer. If anyone has any questions, comments, concerns, or complaints, E-mail me at

Later Days…
