Civilization
and Race
Survivors are
a new race that was introduced in the set
Survivors of the Megapocalypse. This race has
been included in Stomp-A-Trons quite a bit, and
they will continue to be included in future
sets. The Survivors are very unique because they
share their abilities with each other… most of
the time. The only bad thing about Survivors is
that your deck has to be built around them for
these creatures to work. The Fire civilization
wasn’t used much before this set, but Stomp-A-Trons
of Invincible Wrath has greatly favored this
civilization. I think that people are playing
Fire a lot more than they used to thanks to this
set.
Power and
Cost
6 mana for
9000 power? I would take that any day! This
creature has what it takes to take down the
ever-popular Fighter Dual Fang and Crystal
Lancer. Q-Tronic Gargantua can also get through
almost any blocker. This creature’s price is a
bargain for its power… and its abilities…
Abilities
Q-Tronic
Gargantua’s effect can be a game winner. “This
creature breaks one more shield for each of your
other Survivors in the battle zone.” Now I know
you might think this isn’t THAT great,
especially since he doesn’t give this ability to
his other Survivor friends. Think about it, if
all the other Survivors got the Crew Breaker
ability and you had three Survivors on the
field, you would have a potential to break 9
shields in one turn. Not that I’m against cheap
cards or anything, but that would be incredibly
broken. You must also take into consideration
that this creature is an Evolution, meaning HE
CAN ATTACK RIGHT AWAY! So no matter what, you’ll
be getting an attack off. Even if you only have
one other survivor in the battle zone, this
creature is a Double Breaker, plus he gets that
other Survivor’s ability. In the end, it all
balances out. His abilities only work with other
Survivors though, so if you aren’t running a
Survivor deck, this guy is trash.
Final
Analysis
Limited –
1.5/5 – There isn’t enough evolution bait
for this card to be very effective in this type
of game play. Also, it is unlikely that you will
get more than one of this card in limited, so
trying to make a Survivor deck with him is
pointless.
Constructed – 5/5 – I am grading this as if
it was in a Survivor deck since that is the only
deck he goes in. If you are running a Survivor
deck, this is a definite requirement. This guy’s
power and abilities make him WELL worth his
price.
