Today, we
have a very useful creature from the new race,
Cyber Moon. This card has a built in effect of a
card that we find in many decks that run water…
one that lets you search for any card you want.
Hawkeye
Lunatron
Mana
Cost : 8
Civilization : Water
Race
: Cyber Moon
Rules Text
:
-
Double
Breaker (This creature breaks two shields.)
-
When you
put this creature into the battle zone,
search your deck. You may take a card from
your deck and put it into your hand. Then
shuffle your deck.
Power : 6000
Mana
Cost : 8
Flavor Text : The
Dragons used to love peaceful moonlight flights-
but not anymore.
Hawkeye Lunatron has a unique ability that could
be a game saver or clencher. Let’s see the
breakdown!
Mana:
8 mana is a little
steep for some. Some people may prefer to play a
Bazagazeal Dragon for 8 mana. But how good is
Bazagazeal Dragon when your opponent has a
blocker too strong for it? Or maybe a creature
too strong for it? Anyways, off of that, Hawkeye
comes in at a high 8 mana. 8 mana is not really
that much in most decks this fits in, AKA
control, which run chargers and other mana
acceleration. Even so, it is still pretty high
and sometimes avoided in decks.
Mana
to Power & Effect:
Complaining about the high mana cost eh? Well,
Hawkeye Lunatron’s effect and power is well
worth the cost. A power of 6000 is pretty beefy.
The only way this sucker is getting killed is if
it is tapped and attacked by something such as
Twin-Cannon Skyterror, Craze Valkyrie, Kisar
Basiku, etc. or a Bazagazeal Dragon. We know the
threats are out there, but, who knows if your
opponent will have one of these cards to stop
your Hawkeye Lunatron’s power. It does get
killed by Apocalypse Vise, but it uses up most
of the kill.
Hawkeye has
great effects. 1. It is a Double Breaker. A
beefy creature with Double Breaker is always
good when you need to attack. 2. Search your
deck for ANY card in your deck when this
creature hits the battle zone and put it into
your hand. WHA???!!! Exactly. This is a built in
Crystal Memory to a beefy Double Breaker
creature. I mean, what more could you ask for
(Don’t answer that)? Honestly, taking ANY card
from your deck is a huge advantage over your
opponent. 1. You get to see what is left in your
deck, thus, analyzing your shields and other
technicalities, thus providing you with more
precision. 2. You get a card that you need at
that time. Sure, this card might not be amazing
on say the turn you get 8 mana, but late game,
this card is a beast. Though, I have found this
card useful the turn I get 8 mana after
devastating the opponent with a Lost Soul. To
sum it up, this card’s effect is WELL worth the
mana cost.
Props and
Slops
+6000 power
is good
+Double
Breaker is awesome
+Search for
any card… Woohoo!
+Water
Civilization is awesome
-Ummm… It has
no Evolutions yet?
-What is a
Cyber Moon?
Overall
Limited – For
draft/sealed in this set, I would say it could
work. It might not be so useful here, especially
if you pull it within your first couple of
hands. Since there are a lot of blockers, it is
possible for you to pull this baby out in time
to be used, maybe searching for a speed attacker
or a blocker of your own… Depends totally on
your other pulls. I would suggest running it
though, since it is big and beefy, and one of
the few Double Breakers in this set.
3/5
Constructed – This is
the main format for Hawkeye Lunatron. It is
great in Charger Control, D/W/F/L, D/W/F, D/W/L,
G/R/U/B, basically anything running Water that
lasts a long time… NOT RUSH. I say this is an
awesome control card, even though it does come
in a little late in the game. Combined with
chargers and other mana accel, Hawkeye Lunatron
packs a strong punch as well as a great ability.
Use it. 4/5
