-Robby- hey pojo readers, after a busy school year things are winding down and i can

start writing articles and doing the COTD so heres one of hopefully many COTD's.

Name: Techno Totem
Cost: 4
Race: Mystery Totem
Civilization: Light/Nature
Type: Creature
Rules Text:
(This creature is put into your mana zone tapped.)
While this creature is tapped, each of your other creatures has "power
attacker +1500." (While attacking, a creature that has "power attacker
+1500" gets +1500 power.)
Instead of having this creature attack, you may tap it to use its ability.
Choose one of your opponent's creatures in the battle zone and tap it.
Power: 5,000
Mana Number: 1
Artist: Katsuya
Rarity: V
Collector Number: 10

alright sweet, this is one of the most synergetic dual civs cards out there,

works real well with tappage and light. I used three in my 5 civ deck that
won the dallas 5 civ. helped alot. anyway on to the card

Cost/Power:
ok 4 for 5000, is already paid for. of course we expect that from all dual
civilization cards, they are generally undercosted for the effects you are
recieving, and techno totem is no exception.

Civ/race:
mystery totem is pretty much not supported at all, this and cryptic totem
are the ace in the holes for this race. light and green work suprisingly
well together, but you have to have the right blend. Techno totem doesn't
fit into every deck.

Effects:
alright so what i meant earlier is that his effects are synergetic with
eachother. Using his tap ability to tap a card is down right good in itself.

Yet his ability to boost your other creatures while tapped is awesome.
simple bronze arm tribes or mieles can take down anything with 2500 or less.

Making his effect very useful, and destructful with constant tappage, and it

gives more sense of control.

limited:
techo totem is awsome in the format being a beat stick and allowing your
other smaller creatures take down your opponents beefier creatures, if you
pull him, there is no reason not to use him.
5/5

constructed:
alright he actually gets a lower rating in constructed because of him being
very selective in his deck type. I figure he works best with an initiate
build, with maybe some beast folks for aggro, but he's best in tappage all
around.

peace out
-Robby-

Nice freaky flying thing we are reviewing today

Techno Totem is a rainbow card from Shockwaves Of The Shattered Rainbow and is a light/nature Mystic Totem. Before this, the only totem I liked was Vreemah, but that has changed. Techno Totem has a tap ability that allows you to tap an opponents creatures. Then, while this cards tapped all, of your creatures gain " Power Attacker +1500". Now I rather have my monsters creature increase permanently, but I will take Power Attacker +1500. This card will go in any deck like light, nature, tapping, power attacking, and all the others. Now on to the good bad portion of our review.

Good: Good power to mana ratio 4:5000

Taps an opponents

All of your creatures gain Power Attacker +1500

Bad: Mystic totems have no support

Art: 5/5 I love flying totem things

Overall Rating: 4/5

See ya guys, or girls, next time

Techno Totem

Hello, this is my first card of the day for Pojo, and i am very happy to be on staff now. To keep things simple just call me vader1991. I enjoy playing Duel Masters even though I just now got back into it. Anyways onto the review.

Techno Totem - Mystery Totem

Mana Cost - 4

Attack - 5000

Type - Light/Nature

Set - Shockwaves of the Shattered Rainbow

Mana Number - 1 (light and nature)

Effect - (This creature is put into your mana zone tapped.)
While this creature is tapped, each of your other creatures has "power attacker +1500." (While attacking, a creature that has "power attacker +1500" gets +1500 power.)
Instead of having this creature attack, you may tap it to use its ability.
Choose one of your opponent's creatures in the battle zone and tap it.

This creature might acually come in handy when playing a light/nature deck. You can tap it to tap one of your opponents creatures and while Techno Totem is tapped, all your monsters get power attacker +1500. The only problem I have is I never liked power attacker bonuses because after your creature attacks, it's power is back to where it started at. Still, I like Light and Nature creatures, but I hate power attacker.

3/5 Overall.

Techno Totem

this is quite an interesting card. It goes well in a Nature and Light deck because it needs both. Good news is that it is a 4 for 5000. It can tap to tap another creature wich is okay but while it's tapped all of your other creatrues get "power attacker 1500"

Rate normal 2.5/5

Light and Nature deck 4/5

Techno Totem is such a cool name.  You could just name a band after this guy.  Unfortunately when you look at the artwork you can’t see any speakers and it’s just an image of a dilapidated, winged robot that can barely keep itself together.   What we have here are the side effects of too much “break” dancing.  Haha.  Get it?  *Acknowledges all the sneers*

Let’s hope that the stats keep this guy in tact.

Techno Totem

Race: Mystery Totem

Civilization: Light/Nature

Type: Creature

Rules Text:

·         While this creature is tapped, each of your other creatures has “power attacker + 1500”.

·         Instead of having this creature attack you may tap it to use its tap ability:

Power: 5000

Wow…  This guy is an interesting uitility card.  Let’s first take a look at its power to mana cost.  For only 4 mana you get to summon a power 5000 beatstick.  Ooh, I like this guy already.  However, this creature is a dual civ creature, which limits him to only certain types of decks.  It also has to come into the mana zone tapped, which isn’t always the best thing when you need to take things up another level.

Fortunately the designers worked very hard to make this guy enjoyable and gave it two very welcome effects.  The first effect gives all of your other creatures power attacker 1500 when this creature is tapped.  The effect is somewhat like Barkwhip’s, except it adds 500 less power and the boost does not stay on your creatures during your opponent’s turn.  On the plus side it powers up all of your creatures (not just Beast Folk) including other Techno Totems.  Just imagine stacking two of these guys and swinging with a 4000 power Essence Elf!  That’s hot!

The next effect allows us to tap one of our opponent’s creatures when we tap our Techno Totem.  Sometimes it’s hard to choose between using this effect and attacking because this creature hits so hard.  It is a wonderful effect nonetheless and turns this guy into the perfect utility card for L/N decks.  For only 4 mana you get a power 5000 monster that can grant you infinite Solar Rays.  By now if you still think this guy isn’t worth it then just compare it to Chen Treg, Vizier of Blades.  Techno Totem is almost the same card except cheaper, stronger, and potentially overwhelming once it is tapped.

What we’re witnessing here is a form of field control that doesn’t require us reduce the number of cards in our hand.  Nature already has highly overpowered creatures and light does just as nicely with blockers.  Just tap your opponent’s creature and attack with your 5500 power Quixotic.  Still laughing?  Then watch what happens when a 9500 power, 3 mana Trench Scarab takes out your little Bolmeteus.  Of course Trench could take out Bolmeteus anyway but the 9500 power makes it all the more delicious.

The Good:  Great power for only 4 mana and fun field control effects that do not require you to use cards from your hand.

The Bad:  The dual civ aspect limits this wonderful card to only certain decks and most W/D/F duelists will never know how much fun this card is to play.  It’s also a 4 mana card, which is good and bad.  It’s good because it’s cheap but it’s bad because I’d rather play a Magris for that much mana.  It’s also unfortunate that the +1500 power also goes away after attacking.

The Ugly:  It’s a cylindrical, winged robot with one appendage and it’s falling apart!

Constructed Rating: 3.0 – When you put together a deck based on this guy it is incredible!  But that’s basically the only deck he’ll ever make it into.

Limited Rating: 4/5 – If you have the mana to play this guy then you’ll pretty much stay on top.

I hope you enjoyed the review

~Zephyr~ Heya all, ~Zephyr~ here, back with another COTD for you's all to check out. Last time around, we were checking out the Super Rares in Set 10, Shockwaves of the Shattered Rainbow! For the next few COTD's, we'll be checking out the Very Rares from the set, starting off with the Dancing Wonder, "Techno Totem"

So lets break down this creature shall we......

Cost & Power: 4 mana for a 5000 power creature is something you'd usually expect to see in a blocker, like Dia Nork, Moonlight Guardian, or Revolver Fish, but this is from an actually offensive creature so it definitely gets high marks for that! 5000 power alone can take out the majority of creatures set on the field, including most blockers (with the exception of Thrash Crawler). And with it being a Light/Nature creature, it can set on the field as early as turn 3, if you are lucky with a Faerie Life! Overall a good Cost to Power ratio!

Race: Mystery Totem is showing up in more and more sets and there is plenty of other totems about to make it usuable. The most obvious creature though that gets played in decks from the Race has got to be Cryptic Totem and while Techno Totem is a very useable creature itself, Cryptic will always see more play! Dracodance Totem is the cheapest of the totem's but as of yet, there are no evolutions for them but Im sure there will be one soon for them!

Effect: Now, this guy's effect is what makes it such a nasty creature the opponent as it can work in 2 ways. You can either attack with it, break a shield, and then give the power attacker 1500+ boost to all your creatures to follow suit, or you can use its tap effect, tap a creature, and then gain the boost of 1500+ and annihilate the creature and anything else that would be tapped. In both cases, it comes off as a very versatile creature and definitely something that people can abuse. The effect also reminds me of another creature, Barkwhip, the Smasher, as it too has a similar ability when tapped but unlike Techno Totem's all-round ability, Barkwhip's is limited to Beastfolk. The only bad thing to do with Techno's effect is that the 1500+ boost is a power attacker ability so unlike Barkwhip's ability, once it shifts to the opponent's turn, the 1500+ boost is one, and could leave you in a bit of trouble, especially if your opponent was well prepared and foresaw the move beforehand! Otherwise, this creature's abilities are quite good!

Availability: As its a Very Rare, its not exactly the easier card to get your hand on, but like I've said in other reviews, this card won't appease to everyone's tastes so it might be easier to get your hands on it than you think!

Overall, this creature has definitely got more good points than bad points and could easily be fitted into a nice Nature/Light deck as a surprise inclusion. I've read one person's tournament report already who used in their deck and they came out with a tournament victory so if anyone is looking for proof of this guy's ability to perform well in a deck, there's your evidence!

Limited Format: 5/5 - If you can sort your deck out to have mainly Nature and Light, this card can work wonders for ya as it can either attack, tap & tap, or boost your other creatures or a combination of 2 of them + the Cost to power ratio works in your favour!

Constructed: 4/5 - This creature can do well in a deck thay fully utilises Light and Nature in it, but bare in mind that due to the fact this guy ain't an evolution that your opponent might try and stop him setting his effect off. But due to his power, he can't be removed very easily so all depends really on the deck you are playing against, but otherwise, its a solid addition to the right deck!

~Zephyr~'s Score: 4/5

If anyone wants to discuss anything that I have mentioned in this COTD, feel free to email me @ - mexflash@hotmail.com. Generally always up for a friendly chat & discussion. Also available on Msn & for duels on DMC v2.0!

Until the next COTD!

~Zephyr~
