Hi folks. It’s time for another COTD and
this one happens to be very enjoyable! Reap
and Sow is a mana killer’s dream come true
and has been finding its way into a few
decks. Let’s take a look.
Reap and Sow
Cost:
5
Civilization:
Fire/Nature
Type:
Spell
Rules Text:
·
(This spell is put into your mana zone
tapped.)
·
Choose a card in your opponent's mana zone
and put it into his graveyard. Then put the
top card of your deck into your mana zone.
This card is well priced at 5 mana. It can
be compared to cards like Ultimate Force,
which net you an extra two mana. The best
part is that this new version is even
better. For the same cost as Ultimate
Force, you get the same mana advantage and
in doing so your opponent loses 1 mana. You
basically get a boost in mana plus control.
Think of how frustrating it will be for your
opponent when you get to destroy a multi-civ
card in his/her mana zone or eliminate a key
civilization from his/her mana zone, while
getting a free mana at the same time. It’s
crazy!
As far as deck construction, this card will
go really well in a Fire/Nature agro deck.
You’ll quickly be able to summon your
fatties while setting your opponent back one
turn (mana-wise). It will also do fairly
well in a mana destruction deck, although in
my honest opinion, Reap and Sow is just too
slow. There are already enough mana hate
cards and this one is one of the more
expensive ones.
Well… this card is fairly straightforward so
it pretty much speaks for itself. Give it a
shot and count the number of times you get
an instant advantage.
The Good:
Mana advantage plus mana control all in one.
The Bad:
Everyone’s first instinct is to go with a
mana destruction deck but this card
generally turns out to be a little slow.
The Ugly:
(This card is too solid to merit anything in
this section.)
Constructed Rating:
4/5 – This is a very solid card with an
excellent combination of effects.
Limited Rating:
3/5 – This card might be a little slow in
limited but it’s effective nonetheless.
