The water civilization has given us plenty
of innovative ways to increase our hand size
and today we look at one of the new
options.
Lucky Ball
Cost:
4
Race:
Cyber Virus
Civilization:
Water
Type:
Creature
Rules Text:
·
When you put this creature into the battle
zone, if your opponent has 3 or fewer
shields, draw up to 2 cards.
Power:
3000
For starters, we understand that the water
civilization isn’t necessarily renowned for
brute strength. Therefore it is acceptable
to have a 3000 power creature for 4 mana.
I’m not saying that it’s a good ratio, but
we kind of expect it from the water
civilization… Just look at Scissor Eye.
Fortunately, unlike Scissor Eye, Lucky Ball
comes with an effect.
Whenever Lucky Ball is summoned, as long as
your opponent has 3 or fewer shields, you’ll
get to draw 2 cards… It seems pretty
decent. It’s like a Brain Serum on a stick
or a Magris with extra draw power. The hard
part is actually getting your opponent down
to 3 shields before it’s time to summon
Lucky Ball. The best way to do this by turn
4 is to rush your opponent. If you combine
fire and water into a deck you’ll have a
splendid combination of rush and swarm. In
addition it’ll be pretty simple taking out
at least two shields before turn 4, thus
making it so that this creature has no
drawbacks. Try a few of these in your deck
and you’ll quickly realize that drawing
those next two cards in a rush/swarm deck
will make a huge difference.
If you’re not a fan of rush then you might
want to check out additional Cyber Viruses.
Granted Cyber Viruses are weak, but they can
manage to pull off some decent draw combos.
You’ll have Astral Warper a cyber Virus
evolution at your disposal as well as Kelp
Candle. Just let your imagination do the
work.
The Good:
Multiple copies of these will provide
helpful provisions for your rush deck.
The Bad:
It only works if your opponent has 3 or
fewer shields.
The Ugly:
Shield manipulation decks will make this
creature rather useless.
Constructed Rating:
3.5/5 – Not the greatest method for drawing
out there but it can still be effective.
Limited Rating:
4/5 – Shields are easier to break in limited
and the extra draw will be helpful.
