Well I’m back from a nice holiday break and
ready to start the New Year with some thrilling
COTDs. Berochika, Channeler of Suns has a very
intriguing effect and packs a very serious
punch. It’s a wonder why nobody has picked up
this cool little gem and abused its sickening
effect.
Berochika, Channeler of Suns
Cost:
5
Race:
Mecha Del Sol
Civilization:
Light
Type:
Creature
Rules Text:
·
When you put this creature into the battle zone,
if you have 5 or more shields, add the top card
of your deck to your shields face down.
Power:
5000
The Light Civilization is almost always on point
when it comes to having adequate power to mana
ratios. It’s a race that doesn’t rely on cheap
and dirty tricks but instead uses brute force to
get the job done. Berochika certainly doesn’t
disappoint. For the cost of 5 mana we get a
beefy creature with 5000 power. This type of
ratio is definitely acceptable and allows
Berochika to have its way with most of the
creatures being used in today’s meta.
Of course the good news doesn’t stop there.
Berochika, Channeler of Suns comes with a
dominating effect that can be abused to no end.
As soon as you summon this fattie, as long as
you have at least 5 shields you’ll be able to
pick up the top card form your deck and add it
to your shields face down. The good news is
that the Light Civilization is that it’s great
at stalling so you’ll have no problem getting an
extra shield by turn 5. In addition, once you
use this effect, not only do you get the benefit
of the effect, it’ll be ready to rip your
opponent to shreds with its 5000 power. Your
opponent will definitely want to use Corile on
it but he’d pretty much be giving you the game.
;)
The Good:
A powerful creature with a dominating effect.
The Bad:
The Light Civilization already has too many
wonderful 5 mana creatures. (i.e. Petrova, and
Mist Rias)
The Ugly:
You don’t get the effect if your opponent broke
any shields early. However, you still get the
5000 power.
Constructed Rating:
4.5/5 – Most light decks that I know of have
plenty of stall so this creature will fit right
in. It’s a no-brainer. :D
Limited Rating:
4.5/5 – It’s hard to keep 5 shields by turn 5 in
limited but the 5000 power will still be a big
help.
