It’s time to look at the “Godfather” of all
Mecha Del Sols… Er, I mean Godmother. Petrova,
Channeler of Suns is absolutely the most famous,
loved, hated, hyped, broken, and feared card
from the entire Light Civilization. Let’s
review the stats.
Petrova, Channeler of Suns

3500
By now almost every Duel Masters player, both
new and old, has heard of the legendary creature
known as Petrova (a.k.a. PET). Because of this
familiarity, there’s no need to really address
Petrova’s mana to power ratio. Let’s just say
3500 is good enough. It’s certainly enough to
escape Burst Shot and Searing Wave, which makes
it evident that Petrova was designed to stick
around for a while. The other great thing about
Petrova is the fact that your opponent cannot
target it with spells or effects. This means
that despite your opponent’s efforts, it cannot
be “Coriled”, “Vised”, “Terror Pitted”, “Spiral
Gated”, “Natural Snared”, etc. Let’s also
include the fact that Burst Shot and Searing
Wave cannot harm it and we can see that Petrova
is truly something special.
So what could be better than a creature that’s
immune to almost anything? How about the fact
that Petrova gives a race of your choice (except
Mecha Del Sol) +4000 power? This is truly
amazing. With this effect your creatures, no
matter how meager, will be to trample over
almost anything. Your opponent will be rendered
helpless thanks to the fact that he/she cannot
touch Petrova, except by attacking it. If they
do choose to attack it then they’ll need a lot
of luck because your blockers will more than
likely be boosted by +4000 power. Also, if
you’d like to add insult to injury then stack
another Petrova and you’ll potentially boost
your field by +8000 power. Wow!
So is this card invincible? Actually no. There
are still Ballom players and Bazagazeal spammers
out there, which will be incessantly looking to
get a piece of Petrova. Make sure you’re
prepared and you’ll have no problem snagging an
easy victory.
The Good:
Power up a race by +4000 and watch your opponent
squirm.
The Bad:
It can’t power up Mecha Del Sols. ;)
The Ugly:
N/A
Constructed Rating:
5/5 – B.R.O.K.E.N. It’s too bad that 5/5 is the
highest I can go as far as rating Petrova. We
have a virtually indestructible creature that
can potentially power up a field by +4000.
Limited Rating:
5/5 – No matter what the format, there’s always
a way to abuse Petrova.
