"Why
not to Build your deck around Card of the Days- J.
Hanson"
For starters this is not meant to be
a bash on any of the COTD peoples. This is only so that people can improve thier
own deckbuilding.
For starters, this
tip grew from an issue I had with a kid at the DM Mall tour not to long ago. I
was in the Tournament Area at Darkness Zone at the time, when I was facing my
first opponent. He was talking to his friend sitting next to him about how the
"Duel Masters" from nature zone were dumb because he s aw one of them use a
Crystal Lancer in his duel. I asked him why that made him "dumb" and he
responded that "Crystal Lancer is a bad card" without mentioning that that same
"bad card had completely destroyed the duel masters challenger shortly
thereafter. I asked him why he thought Crystal Lancer was a bad card and he said
Liquid People suck and that they cost to much. I asked him who told him that
because there were a LOT of people that day
playing Crystal Lancer. He said dont you read card of the day? Pojos card of the
day said that Its bad. Naturally, I thought this kid was wrong or something so I
just dueled him and never gave it a second thought. Turns out I beat him by
using the Crystal Lancer. Heh. Anyway, after the tourney I went home and
went to Pojo and looked at the COTD for Crystal Lancer, and sure enough
Christine Gerhardt had said that Liquid people suck and the Pre-Evos cost too
much. Yeah. Aqua Soldier, aqua Hulcus and Aqua Vehicle all cost 3 mana or less.
4 of each would provide a nice 4:1 ratio of Pre-Evo Liquids to Crystal Lancer if
you use 3 Crysal Lancer.(which I do!) also in this case this takes up 12 cards
of your deck, almost one third of a forty card deck, so you wouldnt have
difficulty playing one. This is an example of how people arent always right. No
offense to Christine, but her point was off and, no offense to her readers, but
their are quite a few people who have complete belief in what they read. The
point that I am trying to make is NOT TO BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ!
