A
Review of the New Super Rares-Knives101
Greetings! ^_^
Before I begin allow me to introduce
myself. I am Shane Steinhauser A.K.A DBZ CCG Veteran (from the dmrealms.com
boards). I am nineteen years old. I have played the DragonballZ CCG for three
years. Duel Masters is quickly replacing DBZ as my favorite card game though.
I am here to offer my humble
opinion, about the super rares from the evo-crushinators of doom set. I know
what they do, because I own one copy of each. If you disagree with me that's
fine. Everyone has their own playing style. What works for one person may not
necessarily work for the other. Now on with the review.
The first card that I am going to
evaluate is Fighter Dual Fang. He is my favorite super rare, so I will review
him first. Fighter Dual Fang is a beast folk evolution creature, from the forest
civilization. He costs six mana to cast, has double breaker, gives you two extra
mana when cast, and has a power of eight thousand. We all know that the forest
civilization has quite a few beast folk for Fighter Dual Fang to be evolved
from. Since he is an evolution creature he is immune to Death Smoke, and quite
resistant to cards that "bounce" creatures back into your hand. The great thing
about Fighter Dual Fang is that he gives you two extra mana when cast. So if
your opponent bounces him back into your hand, you will not have too much
trouble recasting him. The forest civilization offers up a lot of mana
acceleration. So paying the six mana to cast him should not be much of a
problem. The only possible downside to this card is that he is a super rare.
Overall I have to give Dual Fighter Fang a 10/10.
Next up is Crystal Paladin. Crystal
Paladin is the water civilization's super rare. He has a cost of four, and a
power of five thousand. He evolves from liquid people. There are quite a few
liquid people out there to evolve him from. When cast Crystal Paladin
"bounces" all blockers back into their owners hands (including your own -_-).
The problem with Crystal Paladin's effect is that the water civilization already
has a way around blockers. Personally I would rather use a few unblockable
creatures, than hunt this guy down. Crystal Paladin gets a 6/10 from me.
Now it's time to rate the most powerful creature in the game! Ultracide
Worm is ultra powerful. It costs six mana to cast, has double breaker, and a
whopping power of eleven thousand. Since this card is an offensive creature it
is pretty much immune to Death Smoke. Thanks to it's high power, it is also
pretty much immune to being attacked and killed (except for slayers). The dark
civilization has a decent amount of playable parasite worms to evolve this heavy
hitter from. There's really not much else to say about this creature. 8/10
Ladia Bale, the Inspirational (LB from now on) is next. Like all of the
super rares from the latest set it's an evo-creature. If you are going to use
this card you had better plan on using four copies of La Ura Giga, and Reso
Paco. Those two are the cheapest guardians. It's not a good idea to evolve a
creature from a costly creature. If LB gets "bounced" back into your hand, and
the creature underneath it was Szubs Kin, then you would have to pay eleven mana
in order to recast your LB. If you didn't have the eleven mana to pay, then you
would have to wait an extra turn to evolve your Szubs Kin back into LB. However,
if you had La Ura Giga underneath LB then you could have cast La Ura Giga, and
then immediately evolved it back into LB. Anyway back to the card itself. LB is
like Hanusa and Gran Gure all rolled into one card. Since LB can both attack and
block it is very versatile. LB gets an 8/10 from me.
The final card that
I am going to review is Armored Blaster Valdios. This creature is pretty easy to
get into play. You just cast a human for two mana, and then pay four mana to
evolve it. If Valdios gets "bounced" back into your hand you can easily pay six
mana to recast it on your next turn. This is another card that you can keep
tapped in order to avoid Death Smoke. The plus one thousand power bonus to your
humans can help fend off Vampire Sylphy. The bonus can also help fuel a well
placed Rumble Gate. Adding Rumble Gate's plus one thousand bonus onto Valdios'
plus one thousand bonus turns Brawler Zyler and Mini-Titan Gett into creatures
with an attack power of five thousand. Long story short... If you have a human
deck try to get four of these. 9/10
