40 cards deck
mentality
Sup people. If this gets posted this will be my
first article on pojo.
I'm an avid player of tcg's, i currently play duel
masters, yugioh, and magic. i also host a league every saturday for all
three games at the local toys r us (where i
work)
And now on to the subject at hand.
As you all know, the minimum number of cards you can
have in a tournament legal deck is 40, same as in yu-gi-oh. being so, i
and my fellow duelist have always stuck to this number in everyone of our
decks. So that we can draw the cards that we want faster and not have a
bunch of stuff get in the way. That whole mentality held true with
yu-gi-oh and worked very well.
Now for duel masters. Same card minimum applies as
you all know. But doesn't work as well. I have always run a
red/yellow deck since duel masters made its intro in
the
As you all know red is a fast stompy type deck that
is meant to over run your opponent and rush it quick. well, in almost
every duel i found my self winning in the beggining but once the third
round came about, i was out gunned by my opponent with either walls or bigger
creatures. I was never able to pull out my power houses (i.e. Bolshack
Dragon, Metalwing Skyterror, Bolzard dragon, Ladia Bale) until later in the game
when i'm down to no shields and hoping to top deck a blocker. I began to
get frustrated with the losing streak and decided something had to change.
I went against my mentality of 40 cards to a deck and
added in a third civalization. Green for the mana boost. It was hard
to do at first because i didn't want to leave that 40 card minimum. I said
what the heck and just did it. I ended up with a 64 card deck (after i
threw in Mist Rias, out of the new tin for the draw). Green, yellow, and
red. The stoplight as i call it.
I tested the deck at work (yeah, i get to play at
work) due to the new color in the deck i played with caution. but
once i got the green on the field. and mana started to pile up. and then i
got Mist Rias on the field and started drawing up to 4 cards a turn it was
over. i had 2 valdios, a bolshack, and several blockers on the field to
save me. then i used mana nexus to place a early set holy awe from my mana
zone into my shields. final tally, i had 6 shields, my opp had 0. so
far it's 6-0.
overall, the 40 cards minimum doesn't exist to me
anymore in the world of duel masters. as long as the pulls there, it
doesn't matter how much you have in the deck.
Thanks for your Time.
Peaceout.
