Duel Masters Articles

Okay so continuing with my Birthday celebration, I'll give you a chance to celebrate too. Today I will write an article on thinking of what to put down in your mana. Sounds boring I know, but please read it.

Importance of putting down the High Cost Cards early on?

Some duelists mistake the importance of putting down cards in mana early on.
Most people will put down cards that cost high mana on the first turn. Doing this, they can get out cards early on. This is the best way to win duels..

Choosing certain cards if they cost the same?

Well, if certain cards cost the same(an are high), then you may want to read their effects (okay bare with me). If one was Lost Soul, and the other was Death Cruzer, the Annilator, you would probably throw down Death Cruzer, since it destroys all of your creatures except itself.

What if Part 1?

Well, what if you have Emeral in your deck, and on your opening hand you have a Terror Pit.. This is one of those situations that doesn't mean you should get rid of Terror Pit, since it costs a lot. In most situations, you might as well keep it in your hand. Mainly because you will regret it if you throw it into your mana and next turn you draw Emeral.. Of course, this is a different situation if you have two Terror Pits in hand. Then you can toss one into mana.

What if Part 2?

If you run cards that can retrieve cards from your mana, you may have an easier time getting rid of cards to your mana, since you will be able to get them back. This doesn't mean you should drop any card into your mana, but you can be more relaxed in making the decision. Here's some cards that allow you to get cards from your mana:

Can retrieve only Spells:

Syforce Aurora Elemental
Lena Vizier of Brilliance
Cosmogold, Spectral Knight
Logic Sphere

Can retrieve only Creatures:

Brood Shell
Roar of the Earth
Bone Piercer
Eldritch Poison

Can retrieve any type of card:

Boomerang Comet
Flood Valve
Shtra
Sniper Mosquito
Clone Factory
Solidskin Fish
Mystic Dreamscape
Thrash Crawler

I would definitely not encourage running some of these, but others have become popular, such as Thrash Crawler. Please forgive me if I missed any cards.

Okay well that is all that I have. I hope you liked my article. I know it might have been a little boring but come on, some people out there are "new" to the game and need some inside tips. Sorry if this bored you, and it may have just let you waste some time. Send any comments to danieljs@bellsouth.net 'Till next time, good luck at future tourneys, have fun, and wish my happy birthday!!

Later,

Horus
