Ok well, coming off a pretty decent 3^rd Place win last week in the DM tourney, I was pretty confident in my abilities, and I thought I could make it at least that far, this week. Their was a total of 9-10 people, mostly because people run out of money by the end of the YGO tournament or some have to leave to go to work, their may have been like 12-14 people if it wasn’t for those. But….

1^st Round: Necro (me) vs. Ian

This kid had a Nature/Light deck that he just put together earlier that day (I saw him do it) while he had a ton of mana, he really never got anything good out, so I basically trounced him 2-0. This was by far the easiest round in the tournament but I don’t remember much of it.

2^nd Round Me vs. Brandon

I knew I could beat this guy because I had beaten him in the tournament last week too. He helped me to build my first deck, (MONO-FIRE) but after it got crushed in it’s first tourney 2 weeks ago, I decided to add some blockers and add more creature removal with Darkness. Anyways, he played a Water/Dark Deck, I really can’t remember what happened in this round but I beat him 2-0

Semifinals: Me vs. Joe

Joe is no doubt the best card game player EVER, I introduced him to both YGO and DM, and he usually gets 1^st place if not in the top 3 in both tournaments. He is my best friend’s brother, and he drives out to Somerset every weekend. But, alas I had yet to beat him in a match, ever minus when he first started out. He runs a Water/Light deck that is the hardest deck I have ever faced. His Crystal Lancers beat me every time they come on the field, because I don’t have many monsters that can beat it in battle, and the only spell that does the trick is Terror Pit and I only have 1. Well 1^st duel I got out my Deadly Fighter out early, and lacked blockers for the first few turns and what he did have I Crimson Hammer’d. I broke about 2-3 shields because of it. Then he started bringing out Aqua Hulcus and Aqua Soldiers, I knew he had a Crystal Lancer, because he had used a Crystal Memory earlier on, and that’s pretty much what he gets every time. I could only hold off his Liquid People for so long before my monster removal ran out, and he did bring it out, he had a lot of blockers so my other creatures were virtually useless, and I think he had a Candy Drop somewhere in there, and I eventually lost the first duel, 0-1. The second duel started off similar, if not identical to the first, I got out my Braid Claw, and I Crimson Hammer’d whatever blocker he got out, unless it was a Hunter Fish, I held his Liquid People at bay and forced him to play his Lancer’s as Mana, or at least one of the two. I had quite a bit of mana, so I could start bringing out the big guns, Gatling and Bolshack, but he kept bouncing them back to my hand. At this point we pretty even until, with my field having NO blockers, him having 3 and me having 2 Shields, he played Diamond Cutter, I thought I was screwed, but thank my lucky stars the LAST Shield was a Shield Trigger Critical Blade, so I destroyed his last Attacking Blocker before it could attack me directly. There were 2 more critical points for me before the duel was over, I pulled a lucky Death Smoke and smoked his Gran Gure. Then for the win, I was hoping and praying that I would get a Scarlet Skyterror, and lo and behold I did! I played it destroyed his blockers and won. 1-1. Now things were tense 3^rd place only got 1 pack for winning so neither of us wanted to lose. I forget what happened in this one though, but a last minute Shield Trigger and my Creature Removal, helped me to win the game. 2-1 Joe got 3^rd place and pulled an Ultracide Worm from his pack.

FINALS: Me Vs. Zach

I don’t know why but this guy seriously intimidated me, he had never been in the tournament before, and I knew that he was really good at YGO so he probably was really good at this too. I told him, “ Do you just want me to take 2^nd and get the 3 packs?” but he wanted to duel so we did. The first duel I forget a lot that happened I think I got out a lot of my Weenies and had him on the run, but his Depthcon came out and crushed me. 0-1. The next duel things went in my favor and my weenies swarmed him, but he did come back from losing 5- to like 0-2 shields but my last shield, Tornado Flame destroyed his creature and I came back to win, my Death Smokes and weenie fire creatures helped me out a lot. 1-1. Again things were really tense, I was a little more confident because I HAD beat him. The next duel was similar to the last, weenies, a lot of weenies, Marrow Ooze, Braid Claw, Gett, Vorg, and Brawler Zyler. I forget what happened during the middle of the duel, but I got out my Armored Groblav (for those of you who don’t know it’s a FIRE Evolution creature for Humans. POWER:6000 and it costs 5, it gets +1000 for every other Fire Card on your side of the field and he’s a double breaker. I started breaking the shields, but one was a Terror Pit, my hopes crushed I managed to hold on for a little longer with creature removal, eventually we started top decking, he broke some of my shields and one of them was Armored Blaster Valdios, now I knew I could win, all I needed was a Human, after 3 or 4 turns of drawing useless stuff, I finally pulled a Human, I summoned both Mini Titan Gett and Valdios with ease because I had more than 6 mana. I think he was able to stop Valdios’s onslaught for a few turns, realizing his defeat he summoned a King Depthcon, and I attacked for the win. 2-1

Total Wins/Losses: 8-2

I was ecstatic, not jumping up and down all crazy like, but I was happy and amazed that I got 1^st place, the first time I ever got 1^st place, EVER. For winning I got 5 packs, 2 BASE SET, 3 EVO CRUSH, I pulled nothing from my BASE SET packs, and pulled an Amber Piercer, (my first), Ethel, Star Sea Elemental, (my second), and Dark Titan Maginn (my third).
