Guess who’s back? Back again? I AM!!!!! Rejoice! Lee Sandow is here again, from Galactic Quest, fresh off of a thirty-two HOUR gamer marathon. I am running on fumes here, so if this report is insane, I’m sorry. One of the other people planned on submitting a report too; so let’s see how much our reports have in common…

I’m gonna use this space to thank Galactic Quest for hosting the gamer marathon, and giving me the $50 store-credit first prize in the costume contest for my pimp costume. Fifteen booster packs never looked so nice. I spent the night at the store, and then that morning darted home for a two-hour nap. I then went to the OTHER location for this tournament. I arrived at about 12:30, paid my five dollars and signed up. We had 13 people, which I think is our record.
TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE:
We did it by Swiss points, once again being four rounds long. Each match was best two out of three; both winner and second-place received a tin. Third and fourth got one booster pack, and some others would be randomly awarded. The entry fee was $5.
Pairings were announced. My first opponent was Matt #2, again.
FIRST ROUND: LEE vs. Matt #2
DECK TYPE: Shield Trigger
Matt was determined to write his own report to challenge mine this week, and I asked him if he really wanted to write about losing in round one. That made him mad. Anyways, we began our exciting duel.
DUEL ONE: Matt is a little too predictable, and my five-color deck was anything but. Lucky shields and many summons won me the duel. 1-0
DUEL TWO: Draw power is godly, and Mist Rias came through for me. I drew many extra cards, and I swarmed him to death in two turns (would have been one, but he had Holy Awe). 2-0
Matt crumpled up his notes on this point, and decided not to write his report after all. As with last week, I took a quote of the duel from each duel.
QOTD: “Who here thinks I’m sexy?” – Me “Your mom does.” - Patrick
DECK TYPE: Mono Dark
Steven is good, and this week he was using the mono Dark deck he would have used had he been there next week. He ALSO was going to write a tournament report, so let’s see what he has to offer… If he submits after this round…
DUEL ONE: I don’t remember what happened here very well, cause I was getting tired. I know I won this game though. 3-0
DUEL TWO: This time, things didn’t go so well. I lost all my shields, and then began to play my stall game. In the end, a valiant Marrow Ooze the Twister gave his life to beat me. 3-1
DUEL THREE: I want to marry my Mist Rias. At the end of the game, I had THREE of them on the field at once. I drew nine cards during one of his turns, and in the end, rushed him mercilessly. 4-1
COTD: My stunned look as I took Marrow Ooze’s attack spoke louder than words.
DECK TYPE: Blue/Black
This round was a blur. An ugly, blue black blur. I HATE CORILE.
ROUND ONE: He Corile’d everything I played. I could not keep anything on the field to use. That’s really all there is to say. 4-2
ROUND TWO: I lost all my shields, but then managed to gain my field control back. Unfortunately, he then managed to summon a Crystal Lancer in one turn, skip right past my blockers and own me. I lost both games! 4-3
QOTD: “I HATE CORILE.” - Me
Well, winning was out of the question at this point, but if I managed to win the next round 2-0, and if one of the two finalists lost 2-0, I could tie for second. Small odds, but anything is possible. I was thrown against a rush deck.
DECK TYPE: Red Rush
I had to win 2-0, and Justin or Tyler had to lose 2-0. It’s my only hope!
ROUND ONE: the weenie rush owned me. Pulled a VERY slow opening hand, and only lived 4 turns. 4-4
ROUND TWO: He rushed fairly well, but I managed to recover and beat him fairly badly. Lucky shield triggers helped. 5-4.
ROUND TWO: I got some blockers out fast, and his monsters charged gallantly into them. I summoned Syforce, and nothing he had could get past it. He hates Syforce now, btw… 6-4
QOTD: “I HATE SYFORCE!” - Nick
On this point, it was over DCI points wise. Since Tyler won 2-0, four others and myself tied for second. It shouldn’t hurt my ranking too much, right?
THE AFTERMATH:
So I lost. Big deal. I’ll recover, it’s not the end of the world, and all that mess people say to make himself or herself feel better. The six of us tied for second had a mini-tournament to determine our prizes, and in the final three-way battle for second I got gang raped (metaphorically speaking). I ended up with fourth place, and got a Rampage pack. Joy rapture.
Now, to slops and Props.
PROPS:
Getting second on DCI points
Trading for a Valdios
Winning the $50 from the costume contest
People reading my past reports
SLOPS:
LOST!!
Jack in my pack
IN CONCLUSION:
So, this is my fourth report for Pojo.com, the first one of which that I lost. Still, losing is part of winning, so I’ll continue to send these every week!
Anyhow, this concludes my report. Got any questions, comments, rants, COTD crew openings, or suggestions? E-mail me with the below address. I look forward to hearing from some of you.
Catch y’all later!
