Hello, my loyal fans!  It is I, Lee Sandow, back again to brighten your day with another delightful report of the Dark Tide.  Why do I always run the same thing?  It’s bound to get boring and predictable?  Well, not yet.  This is STILL my all time favorite deck, and I plan to use it until it becomes obsolete.  On which point, I plan to transform it into something not obsolete.  Anyways, here’s the same-old, same-old Dark Tide.

Dark Tide!! (44 Cards)

DARKNESS CREATURES:  9

2x Writhing Bone Ghoul

4x Horrid Worm

2x Zagaan, Knight of Darkness

DARKNESS SPELLS:  8

4x Terror Pit

4x Death Smoke

WATER CREATURES:  18

4x Corile

4x Aqua Hulcus

4x Hunter Fish

4x Aqua Jolter

2x Crystal Paladin My personal savior.

WATER SPELLS:  10

4x Spiral Gate

2x Crystal Memory

2x Teleportation

2x Brain Serum

TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE:

Four rounds of the swiss scoring system, person with the most points after four rounds wins.  Matches are played 2 out of 3.  First place gets promos and packs, so does second.  And, as always, one is for most sportsmanlike.

Today WOULD be DCI sanctioned.  Since I’m now THIRD PLACE IN GEORGIA, I was hoping to earn even more points.

FIRST ROUND:  LEE vs. Andrew F.

No, this isn’t the Andrew who submitted that hilarious report last week, this is somebody who hadn’t been there in a while.  He was using a rush deck, now enhanced with Speed Attackers.  [Sarcasm]/ I just LOVE speed attackers /[End Sarcasm].  Seriously, I am incredibly weak to rush, so I wasn’t being too optimistic here.

DUEL ONE:  My worry wasn’t too founded.  He DID summon a haste attacker early on, but I destroyed it with my Horrid Worm.  From there, I proceeded to dismantle his hand so that he was topdecking.  It didn’t take long from there.  1-0

DUEL TWO:  He summoned quicker, but not with haste attackers.  I pulled out two Hunter Fishes, then began to play the waiting game.  Eventually, I once again started to obliterate his hand and kill his creatures.  2-0

Loser.

SECOND ROUND:  LEE vs. Steven C.

Hooh boy…  I get to face Steven with his Blue/Black control (it looks very familiar, only he uses Lancer).  Steven and I are about evenly matched skills/card wise, so I figured this would come down to luck.  It did.

DUEL ONE:  We both tried to control one another, and in the end I wasn’t able to restrain his Lancers.  They killed me.  Later, he showed me his two remaining shields.  They were two Terror Pits…>_<    2-1

DUEL TWO:  Once again, we both tried to control each other.  This one worked for a while since I tried to pick off his evo-bait creatures, but it didn’t matter in the end.  He beat me again.  2-2

Well, you can’t win em ALL.  We played two more games for fun, using the same decks, and I won both times.  Guess in times like that it IS luck that makes all the difference.  Smeh, my next opponent was good ol’ Flametropus, or was it Sean?  I don’t remember (I lost my notes). I know I played those two next, and since I won both rounds 2-0 it doesn’t matter what order I write them in.  I think it was Flametropus though, so I’ll list him first.  Besides, I like Flametropus more anyways.

THIRD ROUND:  LEE vs. Flametropus

The order of the day here was a Valdios Rush deck.  SO MUCH RUSH…

DUEL ONE:  His early game presence was powerful, but later in the game I had him topdecking, in no small part because of all my Horrid Worms.  He summoned a Valdios, which I quickly disposed of, and that was the extent of the damage.  3-2

DUEL TWO:  Pretty much the same thing.  I got lucky with the shields he did hit, and for the most part I was able to lock him down.  4-2

Even if I won the next round 2-0 (the attentive reader will know that I do), I couldn’t win any prizes.  Oh well.  Watching Austin get schooled round after round had been enough fun as it was.  As a matter of fact, I now had to face Austin’s first round opponent.

FOURTH ROUND:  LEE vs. Sean

Wait…  I’m a little confused here.  This is a fire deck that runs AT LEAST one copy of every different fire card in the game.  THIS beat Austin.  Okay… (Bursts out laughing).

DUEL ONE:  Well, this deck gave ME no trouble.  He didn’t get off to a very fast start, and I dropped some early blockers for extra fun.  He tried to summon some fatties, but I just killed/bounced them.  5-2

DUEL TWO:  About the same here, only he got off to a SLIGHTLY better start thanks to a braid claw… That broke an Aqua Jolter as a trigger!  It all went downhill for him from there.  6-2

Meh, coulda been worse.  I could’ve played like Austin…

THE AFTERMATH:

No prizes, no promos, nothing.  That’s OK.  We gave out one pack for sportsmanship, which ended up going to Ramsey, and then I had to dash home because I was getting a headache.  I’ve had SO many of those lately…

Now, to slops and Props.

PROPS:

Sanctioned

The many people who respond to these things

Watching Austin get Pizowned!

Steven for making it to the finals.  You better after you beat me boy!

SLOPS:

Losing

This concludes yet another report from me.  If you wish to speak to me, feel free to e-mail me or AIM me.  I’m always happy to talk.  Oh, by the way, does anyone have a JDC:  Ucarn or  Giliam the Tormentor for trade?  They are the only cards I need.  E-mail me if you want to trade.  Anyways, Happy Holidays everyone.  I’ll be back next week!  Till then, happy dueling!
