I’m a big fan of this effect in red, and it’s made a reasonable impact despite having been around for a comparatively short time. It’s quite good at breaking stalemates and has some decent synergy potential, not just for comes-into-play triggers but also with the kind of creatures that have abilities opponents really don’t like to see doubled up. The fact that the ability has more variable effects compared to conventional Overrun and reanimator spells is balanced out by the times that it does the things those can’t. Electroduplicate is close to the simplest or most vanilla version of the effect, and it’s costed in such a way to make it unlikely to create a whole new deck or archetype on its own. But it’s still well worth playing – not only is it perfectly fine at all the aforementioned uses, having flashback is important in battles of attrition. You probably wouldn’t play this in a true Jund-style deck, but it’ll be great in a copy-themed deck with elements of a Jund mindset.

Electroduplicate is another riff on a familiar effect, red’s temporary copy ability. The twist here is the presence of flashback, which lets you copy something twice in one turn or over two turns…while both of these do represent a slight overpay in several cases (the going rate is closer to 2 mana, as seen on a spell like Twinflame), though there is a slight “upside” in that the token here gets sacrificed instead of exiled.
Still, for what this is, it’s serviceable. Electroduplicate will rarely be a star, but creating a second exceptionally large Dragon with which to swoop can crack a game open in an instant. Flashback also makes this fairly forgiving and flexible, and it can put in a bit more consistent work over a game. Hardly a star, but it is suitably powerful, and there will be plenty of decks that can take advantage of its unique talents.
