King of Lullaby Hello Pojo Fans, Elemental HERO Neos is Throwback Thursday for Pojo this week, Jaden’s ace monster like Dark Magician is to Yugi. Just like Dark Magician, this monster is nothing without his support cards, and Neos has A LOT, much like his ace monster predecessor. The only difference is, Neos got them much faster than DM. With a multitude of Fusion possibilities with the other Neos monsters, not needing Poly or a Fusion card to summon the Fusion monster gave Neos a distinct advantage, even if most of the time you were going to lose that monster at the end of the turn (Neos Space prevents this). You had a Neos Fusion monster for any situation, and some of them were game-changing monsters even back in the GX days. Paying yourself down to a low amount or giving your opponent a lot of LP made Air Neos a powerhouse of an attacking monster. Grand Neos could pop any monster your opponent had back to their hand, Dark Neos can negate a monster while on the field, Magma Neos bounced everything back to the hand when it returned to the Extra Deck, and Storm Neos could Heavy Storm the field. Elemental HERO Neos has an easier time Fusion Summoning than Dark Magician, and had support consistently. Advanced-3/5 Art-3/5 Until Next Time |
Crunch$G If you know the theme already, then it should come to no surprise we’re looking at Jaden’s ace, Elemental HERO Neos. Neos is a Level 7 LIGHT Warrior with 2500 ATK and 2000 DEF. Fine stats on a Level 7, LIGHT and Warrior are also good. Neos is a new Elemental HERO (kinda odd since this isn’t 2006 when this card was first printed) that has arrived from Neo-Space and when he initiates a Contact Fusion with a Neo-Spacian, his unknown powers are unleashed. So of course you want this with the Neo-Spacians to get to those Neos Fusions, even if you still need Neo Space to make sure they don’t return to the Extra Deck immediately after they’re summoned or have Neos Fusion to keep them for a turn. Neos Fusion is the best way to summon those old Contact Fusions since it’s much harder to summon Neos compared to Dark Magician last week since it has less support to do such, but Miracle Contact makes drawing the Neos not as bad as well as Neos Fusion. Warrior at least means Neo-Space Connector and this equals Isolde for a Link, but that’s not necessary anymore and you could just tribute the Connector with its effect for the Neo-Spacian. If you want to summon a Fusion off Neos Fusion, go for Rainbow Neos or the new Elemental HERO Neos Kluger, which require Rainbow Dragon and Yubel respectively. Rainbow Neos has great effects that stand up to the test of time well and Neos Kluger is what Neos Wiseman should of been, and neither go back to the Extra Deck. Neos also has other Fusions like Brave Neos and Neos Knight for more options. Neos might feel like more of a card that holds you back if you draw it in its themed Deck compared to Dark Magician, but it’s still a necessity until we potentially get a retrain. It’s fine. Alex Searcy As if you couldn’t tell Dark Magician belonged here in Yugi’s week, could you think of a better card for today than Elemental Hero Neos? (Flame Wingman maybe?) Anyway, Neos, much like Dark Magician, does have a rather full trope of support these days. While his support may not be equal quite in terms of quality nor quantity, it’s out there, and it’s up to you to use. While so much more of Neos, almost completely, that is, support relies on getting him to the Field and/or dumping him to use for Contact Fusion, as it is, there isn’t a great deal of good or support Neos can do on the Field HIMSELF. Which isn’t to say his all but craptacular overall support for when he IS on the Field doesn’t exist, and even existing in bizarre other ways. Things like Rainbow Neos (requiring Rainbow Dragon) and things involving Yubel. I guess the Monster possibilities here are more broad than Dark Magician. Not that we’re saying that’s good, just there are a great deal of possibilities. Dark Magician can be better ON HIS OWN because he has better and more specific support. But Neos here has grown better in time, and probably will continue to do so. Rating: 3.5/5 Art: 4/5 I enjoy this punching Neos a lot |
